Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I just returned to say HI everyone:) !!!!!

And that I am cured! LOL

Havent even touched my res for sept/oct!
Still at YC CL..(doing the 1/2 Wine and Dine) and then AKV Jambo!

And have POFQ for Dec...even with the codes and AP code...I did not waiver!!!!

Good luck to everyone else:)

Hi my friend. You are my new she-ro.

I'm back this year for another round of resort switching! :)
Were planning a trip from 12/11-12/17. So far I've had
1. Poly garden view
2. POR
3. 2 rooms at CSR
and now with the 40% off code were now at the Boardwalk Club level!
I know for sure that we want club level, but really want a deluxe room at the Wilderness...
I still have 3 months to change things around, so I'll be here alot!

AND I'm back again!!! :rotfl: I am planning my postponed trip....the one I was originally supposed to leave for this coming Saturday :sad2:
Good News, I am planning the postponed trip so I have something to look forward to again!!
Soooo.... first change is in the works tomorrow morning when the site is up and running again! (seems like things shut down on the WDW site at night!) Maybe that's a good thing :confused3 :rotfl: I wouldn't want to be up all night planning and switching!!
Currently I am booked for Free Dining in September 2011. Poly Garden View Club Level. Now I have decided to make our trip for February....not as long to wait, and weather not quite as hot....so I have to cancel the Sept. ressie and make a new one for FEB.
I will be changing resort choice too.....I think Beach Club is the best choice for a Teenage boy, Mom and Son trip. So...tomorrow will get it all squared away and hopefully won't touch anything anymore!!! (Famous last words from a bonafide resort-waffler, LOL!!!!) I can hope though! :goodvibes

My, we've been busy. Welcome back Leeann, I left the light on for ya! :goodvibes Ahhh, talk of BC/YC always makes me say "Let the Changes Begin." Though I am booked at CR (my DS's choice) I'm trying to convince him of BC. We were originally not supposed to go to Disney next year :scared1: and just to do universal but......I'm not willing to risk not booking and changing my mind.....like I do......all of the time.....:rotfl2: I'm pretty sure that we will end up at Universal And Disney next year, even if it will only be for a few days.

And Chimo....I'm backing away from the bus doors......could get my fingers smashed on that on/off revolving bus door.... I am soo happy you are back in the game again. Waffling is allowed here......so many changes BEFORE CRO even opens.....:sad2: :rotfl:

I love it....and miss the changing:laughing:
I will just miss ya..we arrive the 19th...just me and my DD's..13 and 4. Airfare is a nightmare right now, so I am staying put at FQ, and our friends will be there as well:)
Cant wait to see what you decide....!

Oooh Oooh Oooh sign me up! I booked my Sept 2011 trip when free dining was released at the GF. The next day I then changed to the YC, changed back to the GF, then changed again to the YC. So far today I've stopped myself from calling and changing back to the GF, however only time will tell! Oh the madness I create myself about which hotel I need. :rotfl2:

Well so far I'm not a resort changer for next years trip. This year I changed resorts 4 times. :scared1:My strategy: I asked my son what resort he wanted to stay in for doing well in school. He picked the BW so I promised him the BW now theres no changing. I would break his heart:sad1:I have changed room types though from standard BWI to BCV studio to BCV 1 bdr, and I have changed my dates twice.:lmao:

Now I feel bad for wanting to switch next year from CR to BC......CR is where my DS wants to stay.......If only we could stay this year........is it too late.....we leave next week...

I have just had my first experience with being a resort changer and it has been driving me crazy.

About 9 months ago we booked split stay at AKL savannah view and BC standard view. AKL was always locked in, its a definate.

Then summer rates came out and we got 9/29 to 10/3 or our 9/29 to 10/13 ressie at the discount at BC (and at AKL). I then decided that we needed a water view at BC but nothing was available.

So fall discounts are released and we can get from 10/3 to 10/13 BWI waterview or Poly CL cheaper than our full price std BC room. So one minute it was a move to Poly, then it was a move to BWI, then no, we were just going to spend the whole 14 nights at BC std room and hope that we could pay for an upgrade to waterview at check in if there were last minute cancellations. I was also worried about BC being fully booked and nervous about it being too busy :rolleyes1 Crazy I know!! :lmao: I was driving my self around the bend.

Then my TA emails to let me know that AP rates have come out and we can have a waterview at YC. So 4 nights at BC still in a std room, then move to YC for 10 nights (and also our 8 nights at AKL), making it a triple split stay :scared1:

So I booked it. So we have changed and this is it! :rolleyes1 I promise it is :rotfl2: I am thrilled with AKL and thrilled with YC waterview and I'm also looking forward to a short 4 night stay at BC.

So I feel that resort changing addiction may be over for this trip. Lets hope :rotfl2: For my and my families sanity :lmao:

I figure were helping the economy by keeping the cm's at CRO busy and employed.:rotfl:

Especially when they put out rates to tempt resort-wafflers (thanks chimo2u!) like us...

Alright, I've done it again. I've tasted the waffles in the past and am ready for another plate. Here is my story (thank you for listening!!)

Originally booked BW stnd view One bedroom at the 11 month window for end of October. Thought 3 or perhaps 4 of us were going. Plenty of room, all was well.

Just after summer begins, my 13 year old mentions he really would rather stay home to hunt (bow hunting season, I don't get it but I guess I can understand)...of course his dad is on board with waiting until we go next spring and like that, we are down to DD and myself.

Knowing she will want to spend the majority of time at MK (and recalling Epcot's F & W crowds from last October), I waitlist for a studio at VWL. Same amount of points, more nights.

Just before waitlist comes through, I find great outbound airfare departing at 5 pm one day earlier than I planned. Jump on the tickets......then call to check waitlist (and perhaps extend by one day?) and find out the waitlist came through. Yeah, we are now at VWL.

But what to do about the one night without a reservation? I think we would like to try POR FQ but it's silly to only spend one night with flight arriving at 11 pm. Go ahead and book 2 nights at rack rate, wait for AP rates.

Only GP code comes out first :rolleyes1 During the big scurry of excitement on Monday morning I book a discounted waterview at Riverside (since no GP available at FQ on-line) while waiting on hold. After 2 disconnects on hold (one my fault, one the lovely cell phone tower switch over that happens during my daily compute...thank you Sprint!) I finally reach a CM who pulls my rack rate ressie at POR FQ (king bed) and tells me she finds a GP discount for at FQ water view but no King Bed. That's fine, as long as we stay at FQ I give the OK and she modifies the original. By this time I am in the parking lot, need to get into work and do not have time to cancel the one I just booked on-line.

Figured I would do that later...since this is reading like a trip report, I will end here and pick up my SAGA in the next post :lmao:

(PART 2 of 2):goodvibes
Sooooo, yesterday begins without a check to DIS (shame on me) since I thought everything was fine with the modified ressie #1 (and knowing I need to call and cancel # 2 @ Riverside). For some reason my phone would not connect to internet all day Monday and into Tuesday morning. Cannot access "entertainment" websites at work...long call to Sprint to fix the connection and the first website I pull up once internet is restored tells me : AP RATES ARE OUT.

Call CRO on lunch to ck availability at FQ: I give her ressie #1 only to be told it was for Riverside!! What?? I am certain you are looking at #2? Nope she checks both and #1 was modified from FQ to Riverside so now I have 2 GP waterview rooms at Riverside. Gone is FQ with no AP rates available for my dates (and no GP rate either!). Hmph, I'm a little irked at this point, but oh well, cancel #1 and modify #2 to save addl $23 to get Riverside waterview AP rate. I am not deterred...I am a resort changer and not afraid to keep calling to check availability.

First thing this AM, checked on-line and there was a GP room only/King Bed at FQ!!! Booked as fast as my fingers would let me :rotfl:

So now I am essentially back to where I started at ressie #3, but with a discount.:cloud9: All this changing and calling and checking is wearing me out (well that and the fact it is now after midnight!!)

Sorry to be so long winded but I knew you all would understand (and anyone else I know would have stopped listening after hearing the words: "So for my next trip to WDW..." :rolleyes1 Some people just don't get it...

Especially when they put out rates to tempt resort-wafflers (thanks chimo2u!) like us...

NO PROBLEM PKWallaby!!! You are deserving of the honour! :goodvibes
WHEW!! That was a lot of resort-waffling, :rotfl:

I hope you are all settled now and excited for your stay.... I realize that comfort with choice can be a fleeting thing, but for now ENJOY those waffles, :rotfl:

Whew.....around the bend and back again!! Unless.....they offer 4/3 at Poly...then its on again....:goodvibes Welcome to the madness... have a waffle....:flower3:

WOW....:worship: Break out the syrup....and a LOT of it!!! Major waffle props Wallaby. Sounds a lot like last year when I kept switching from OKW to SSR and forgot where I was staying.......and had to call.....and ASK....:cool2:(me...incognito....) Very embarrassed but I'm sure you guys understand.

This is our first experience staying on site. :cloud9: We've always rented a vacation home that is very close to the parks. Booked with free dining for CBR with a pirate room, but started to wonder if that was the right choice for our DD's. I was afraid that we'd be on top of each other, the beds wouldn't be comfortable and read posts about the pirate rooms being far from the pools. :confused3 After some thought, and research have booked a studio at OKW. Wondering though that for the 800 difference in price if we will really get much more space etc. Now I'm reading that OKW could be undergoing renos. The pool area seems fab at OKW, I think the girls will like it better than the pirate theme. Any advice or thoughts?:grouphug:

If space is what you want, OKW has some of the largest room! Maybe a 1br though. You could also consider AKL or WL because they have bunk bed rooms. Kidani is a very cool villa because of the extra water feature AND the animals. :thumbsup2 It would be my choice for a villa. Keep doing research; and, YES change is good.

Thanks for the imput! I looked at a cabin at WL and FWL too, but we did an overnight at Great Wolf Lodge near home and didn't want the same sort of theme (even thought the girls loved it!) I just didn't know if the extra $$ was worth it. I must admit though, I haven't been able to stop thinking about a 1 br!

So far so good.....I haven't completely waffled and changed my resort yet! (don't plan on it either, but we all know how long good intentions can last ;) )
I DID move on up to add Club Level to our reservation and downgrade the Deluxe dining to basic....so now we are staying BEACH CLUB GARDEN VIEW CLUB LEVEL with BASIC DINING PLAN :cool1: I am pretty happy with that plan!! :goodvibes

I definitely need to join this club! At least, I know that you all will totally understand what I'm going through! ;)

I am going to WDW with my mom and sister this coming December to celebrate my mom's 75th birthday...well, that's where the resort changer saga starts...

We were originally going to go to DL one last time before my AP expires...then...it was, "well, if we want to go to DL, maybe we should just go to WDW instead!" :lmao:

So, we booked CBR, then switched to CSR (after seeing that they had Queen beds instead - and normal looking bedspreads!)...FD package!! yippee! We're going to WDW! :dance3:

Then, the room only discount became available...mom and sister didn't want to be 'tied down' with having free dining!! :confused3 (I don't get that, but, ok...)

So, ok, we'll switch our FD package at CSR to room only discount, no biggee...wrong...

No rooms available for our dates at CSR for room only...dang it! So, we're back to CBR with room only and NO free dining! :rotfl2:

I think I'm done changing for my December trip...I don't think my mom could handle anymore changes...so, I'm going to leave it alone (although, I have looked into switching to WLV, BWV, OKW & BLT :lmao:)

So, its not enough that I haven't even gone on the trip in December...now, I'm planning a trip in June '11 to celebrate both of my sons graduations (one son is graduating from college and the other is graduating from High school). Its been 10 years since we visited WDW as a family - I can't even believe that! But, I do live in CA, so we go to DL every year at least once or twice...so, I get my Disney 'fix'! :thumbsup2

This June trip is where the MAJOR resort changing is going on! I would really like to honor my youngest DS's request of AKV...and I really want to try to do a split stay again...maybe with BLT, or with CSR because we will be commando touring for the first few days...We are also going to stay on-site at US/IOA at HRH or RPH...haven't decided if we will do that before WDW or after...

BTW...did I mention that our first trip to WDW in 2001, we stayed at 5 hotels? We flew in late from CA...I didn't want to spend $$ on HRH, so we stayed at the Doubletree Castle Hotel for 1 night, HRH 2 nights, AKL 2 nights, Beach Club 3 nights, and the Hyatt at MCO for 1 night. Yeah, I am completely crazy! :lmao:

Yep, I need some serious intervention here!

TIA for any help to keep me from doing a repeat of my last family trip to WDW! :)
