Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

At ASMu now and just used the in-room offer to change from my BC AAA rate reservation to a Poly reservation at the bounceback rate. Then called husband, who seemed ho hum about it... so now I have to call back tomorrow and see what else is available.

Okay, THAT is way cool. Calling from your resort and making changes based on bounceback that is IN your room . What is the bounceback rate for Poly? Is it no good for Beach Club? Usually those two resorts are about the same price. Let us know how your changes are coming.

Disneybride, Queen of the triple split, one day I'll join you for the Disneygirls trip. It may be my only chance to experience a split stay. I'm like Leeann, my DH will hear NONE of that.

Um. Just changed it again to WL. Still at ASMu right now.

The problem was just that there was no availability for BC or YC - so all I could get was my AAA rate. Honestly, I'd prefer to be there, but I'm having a hard time wrapping my brain around not paying value season rates anyway, so I had to go cheaper.

I don't have anything with the nightly rate for the Poly written down, but it was 8 nights for about $2600 (tax inclusive) in October (so not value season) and garden view. I switched to woods view WL for 8 nights at $1900 total ($217 a nt). I'm pretty certain it was 30% off for all deluxes and moderates.

I called last night and booked 4 nights at WL - Courtyard View (all that was available). I just did some pricing and it looks like we could downgrade to CSR for $900...but....I don't want to! I'm having trouble justifying $150/nt extra, but it's a short trip and I hear that WL is gorgeous for the holidays. (We'll be there 12/3-7)

We stayed for a week at CSR in Feb and loved it, but it's not what I want for a Christmas visit.

Am I crazy???

Okay mommy, (can we call you mommy?) First lets start at the beginning....Welcome in out of the the lurking zone. Second, and more important, wouldn't it be FUN to keep pricing and THINKING about switching and saving money, even if you NEVER change??!! Yes sir....that's what we resort changers do, we think about changing daily. By the way, I LOVE WL!! You won't get an argument from me about staying there for Christmas. We said, after our stay in 2007, that we would want to come back and stay at Christmas time. I do hear that CSR is also a nice one at Christmas. I haven't stayed there (yet) but I DID book it last year (we ended up at AKL after switching several times.) As we say here, let the resort changing begin!

ok here we go, went in Dec 25-Jan 3 for our first Christmas at Disney, trip of a lifetime. We had no intentions to go back this soon, but my daughter saw the get in free for your birthday and started begging to go, then free dining came out and how can you not go right?

husband agrees but this has to be a budget trip because of what we spent at Christmas, Started at BC, then changed to 2 rooms at CBR, the 2 rooms at POP, and then today Poly. I am done, I will not call, I will not call, plus we have never been to the Poly, so way excited about that, we have kind of blown the budget theory though. not telling the kids, they think we are going to Pop.

WHEW!!! Good changes! Never say never and what DH doesn't know won't hurt him right?! I'm approaching my deadline for changes. By the way, I just added August 27 - 30 at US/IOA to our vacation. I changed from HRH to RPR already since Saturday. I think that the Royal Pacific suits us better than the Hard rock. I almost panicked because I am down to the wire and I KEEP thinking about BCV.

And they do make it easy by having split stays! They move your luggage for ya!

I just changed part of my stay...lol....sometimes its tougher with DVC but i can still change
Two years ago around this time I was knee deep in resort changing frenzy!!!

I changed my BCV to BLT..snagged a lake view 2 bdr!!! I dont think we will want to leave!!

Looks like there are some new discounts out so that makes it so easy to change!!

AND today on TravelZoo, I got an email that Mods are $96 a night from Aug thru part of Oct!

Leann, you are truly my sister from another mister (one of my students taught me this saying ). Here I am about to change back to OKW and you are changing from OKW back to SSR. I keep asking myself is size matters I mean square footage of course! . I'm also thinking location, location, location and wishing for BCV because of the EPCOT area. I keep telling myself "we're in a recession, keep the great deal and splurge next year." Besides, if I switch then we cannot meet up by the pool can we?

We haven't changed our ressies for August - we can't because of DP's.

But we did change our NYE ressies from BLT to VB. I'm looking forward to VB over NYE - I think we'll have a lot more fun there!

OMGoodness!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Don't tell me this. I still have a few days before my 45 day mark. I saw the finish line in the distance and now....gulp they offer a discount.....gulp Okay, tell me slowly, what was the discount (if any) for Beach Club? Can you package the deal to include dining and tickets? This could be the discount I have been waiting for.....

I just realized that I'm paying $318/nt for a $530/nt room. Feeling way better about my BLT reservation now, LOL.

Do I give up this once in a lifetime (hopefully not) room if it is taking all of our spending money? $96 nt for mods sounds great. We are only there for 2 days, was going to CR for convenience. What should I do?

If the room is taking up all the money you would have then yes....I would change resorts. It is a great time to learn that sometimes sacrifices need to be made in order to do everything that we would like to. At least you are still going on vacation.
This is the first year that we are doing a moderate resort (CSR). We origionally had booked a 2 Bedroom at BCV and then switched to a 2 bedroom at SSR....now we are sharing one room at CSR. We sat down as a family and discussed the situation and It was decided that everyone wanted a family vacation and if this was the only way we could do it....then this is what we would do.
I hope that you are able to come to a middle ground so that you are not vacation poor.

Well, it's done We are staying at PORFQ for 2 nts following our cruise. We saved $380! That's a budget saver The kids really liked the pics of this resort. We were able to transfer the 40% code which is slightly better than the 96 deal. We got 2 nights for 201. And, for icing on the cake....the total is less than our deposit for our CR room, so we not only just paid our room in full, but also get our refund for so more spending cash!!! Honestly, we are doing 4 parks in 2 days and MK has an EMH nt on our 2nd nt, so the room would be a waste. This was our only choice given by my TA for a mod, but I've always wanted to try it. I have always been a resort changer, I am very frugal..It seems that every time I book CR, I always change it If not for a BFF that books SSR for our girls trips, I would never get to stay deluxe. I am dreaming of someday owning at BLT
