Resort Changers--The Saga Continues.....

I've dithered around trying to decide whether to split our stay or not. I waited so long I was probably risking being thrown out of the resort changers club.
Never fear! Today, I split our stay!! We'll be two nights at the Wilderness Lodge, and five at the Boardwalk Inn. Hooray!!!

Latest update: I was staying 7 nights at the Dolphin, but I get nervous about the cost. So I just booked two nights at BWV using my Vacation Club points. I have also wait listed for a third night. This takes a lot of pressure off my wallet!

Nothing is embarrassing when it comes to changes on this thread. If you read back you will realize that at one point, I couldn't remember where i was booked and had to call Disney to ask a CM.

I keep thinking that I will miss Disneyworld but I have been reading a bit about Cali, it seems like it will be fine. But.....where to stay....THAT is the question!

I took the kids to DCA, the park had opened in March & we went in May. I knew we would do GCH but b/c of price we were going to split the stay, starting at Paradise Pier. Well...to me, it did not FEEL Disney. I think we were in the room for half an hour tops before I was on the phone & we switched to the Disneyland Hotel which I LOVED!! The room was beautiful, a bit like Mary Poppins meets GF. And the pool area was fun.

When we switched to GCH, very diff. atmosphere, just as nice & w/ a little walkway right into DCA! Amazing. I mean, you walk a few steps & you're in the park! The kids & I liked both resorts.

When I did a solo trip to DLR last year, I chose the HoJo after reading the DL boards. And it was awesome! Had a $59 TA rate, the room was BIG, clean, and nice, and they've redone the pool area since.

So really there are lots of great choices! And I'm sure you'll choose more than one....

I heard that the Grand Cali is like WL. I loved WL mostly because of the proximity to MK and the boat, and the lobby....wait, I LOVE WL. I know that I want to stay at Grand Cali....but wait.....There seems to be a hotel that reminds me of the CR. Very sleek and modern like.... I can't focus on this now, I'm approaching my dinning reservation date.....UGH. I CAN'T decide where to try.....HELP!!!

I'm not sure which one you mean. There is the Disneyland hotel - is that the one? How close do you want to be? There are a few inexpensive but ok hotels across the street - so you can literally walk! Ahh.... I remember those days well!!!

I've def been looking and playing around with the idea which wouldn't be so bad but it's starting to effect (infect?) my DH. He'll call me in the middle of the day to ask me what did I find/change and I'll let him know, then tell him to call back in 5 min/5hrs or whatever & I'll give him the latest..."what if I could show you a way" pitch. Hmmm...rationalizing???

I'm still far enuf out from a/d that I have plenty of time to either let this whole condition worsen or nip-it-in-the-bud---but honestly, I think I like obsessing on all of this; is that 'wrong'.?

Well, I feel better already [sigh]...now off to go see if there's anything that I might've overlooked...

I wouldn't have known you were new to this if you hadn't mentioned it. You sound like a seasoned changer. I've gotten those same "so, what have you changed now?" calls, well before ressies have been made.

Half the fun of going to WDW is the planning (and changing) and anticipation. It's always fun to tweak your plans until they feel just right, and then end up changing something - again. Mercifully, the WDTC is very tolerant of this enabling.

So, where are you staying as of this very moment?

Yes, Lulu, we are all sisters/brothers. July is my so-called cut-off month for changes. I'll be calling from my room....(wherever I end up) calling to see if I can get another room.

Okay, I'm obsessed with another kind of change now....ADR changes. I just can't leave them alone. I just canceled Chef Mickey for Chefs de France because of Remy. I'm thinking of changing Cape May Cafe to Biergarten because my DH wants to eat here and I got Le Cellier and am NOT about to give it up for sausage and warm potato salad! (lol). Help me make up my mind. Also, I was looking at pictures on youtube of SSR one bedrooms and OKW one bedroom and OKW looks way larger. Remind me why I switched back to SSR from OKW again??!! I'm thinking space is a good thing.

Lived my resort changing fantasy on this last trip, going from POP to CSR to the Beach Club. Really liked all three! Of course very different resorts but I LOVED that, it seemed like 3 different vacations in one.


Hadn't stayed at a Value before and of course the rooms are smaller than a moderate or deluxe, let's be honest. But the ENERGY, the Disney fun of the place, just blew me away. Way more fun than I expected! Everything Pop was a blast! Room location was so convenient, 60's B Bldg. Requested other side of building for more quiet, but could have faced Hippy Dippy Pool if desired.


CSR, wow, very luxurious. Exceeded expectations. Classy, elegant rooms & main pool complex, wow~ so much to do at the main pool complex! I would say that this is as close to a deluxe as you can get paying a moderate price, & the room only rate was like $109 so that was impressive. Cabanas were colorful, two story buildings that I picked b/c we like CBR & that was closest to beach theming. Fell in love w/ the hammocks on the beach & spent precious hours there.

The Beach Club, was the only resort of the three that I had stayed at before so I knew how much I wold love it and of course it's better than ever, with the room renos.

Last time we had been on the ground level facing Epcot, which is really a wonderful location & so convenient with kids. This time for an adult trip, I requested upper floor, near the lobby, and anded up in #4680 overlooking the entrance to the lobby from the lakeside promenade, loved it so much I left the door open at night to hear the sounds of the Boardwalk. It wasn't a "water view" room but sure could see the lake & Boardwalk & hear the happy sounds of Stormaway Bay. Could stow away there indefinitely!

Will try to answer any questions... not that you need more resorts to choose from!!

Yes, I have been missing in action....we got back a few weeks ago.....we ended up at one night at VWL and 4 at BCV, which we loved!!!

never ended up using my code But just got another one

Its for this Sept's trip, for F & W~

Of course I had my dvc rooms booked...lol...I am at BCV, and Swan..but one to use the code for 2 nights and take advantage of the savings! lol

Totally doesnt make sense since I am spending money now, whereas before I wasnt (on a room)

So....started at GF...GV room

then thought I should be inEpcot...so BWI std view

then got greedy and booked GF RPC

then realized I wouldnt be able to leave the lounge and eat..lol
and returned to BWI CL...that's where I am currently!!

No availability for BC...but I am at BCV for part of the stay anyway....have stayed at YC cl before....and BWV....

Would love to stay GF, but love being so close to World Showcase during F & W..

Disneybride, we kept your room ready for ya . After I stopped laughing while reading your post, my first words were "HUH???" I'm not sure where you're staying!!! It's okay though, I'm sure it will change soon! You are the QUEEN. Temporarily anyway. I have been so busy with trying to move and all. We are currently looking at houses in Northern Virginia. Talk about changes......We can't figure if we want to sacrifice land for house. I want to be where there is shopping close by . Anyway, we completely forgot about Disney temporarily...(can you imagine) and now that it is time for our ADR's (thank goodness I remembered) I'm thinking Epcot again. That and OKW. They can't get out of my mind.... DearDaisy, I wish that I could book split stays but alas...my DH will not hear of it.

So.....here we are again everyone. Pull up a chair and let the changes continue....

I was feeling alittle homesick, so I'm back! It's been about 1-2 months since my last change. Tonight I switched back to SSR! It just looks sooo pretty now I have to look at the ADR's I want to make,I have to squeeze in the Turf Club now. And I have to change my ticker!!

StepDisney - When we went in September, I booked a kinda sneaky split stay (Gaylord Palms for arrival night, then CBR, then Swan). In March, DH was onto me & said pick ONE resort so it was Poly, which we LOVE. This trip in May/June was ME alone so I switched to my little heart's content! When we go back together and/or w/ the kids, there won't be any switching!

I keep asking myself is size matters I mean square footage of course! . I'm also thinking location, location, location and wishing for BCV because of the EPCOT area. I keep telling myself "we're in a recession, keep the great deal and splurge next year." Besides, if I switch then we cannot meet up by the pool can we?

Boy, congrats on the move...DH just had a business trip near Norfolk,VA...moving is just a stressful thing, let alone a move out of state!

At ASMu now and just used the in-room offer to change from my BC AAA rate reservation to a Poly reservation at the bounceback rate. Then called husband, who seemed ho hum about it... so now I have to call back tomorrow and see what else is available.
