Resort Change by Disney

Does anyone know if there is a benefit of having a TA handle this? Are they able to get first priority of available room changes for guests with reservations at moderate resorts that may not be open in July?
Or, do they have to do the same thing and call and hope to get through?
I have successfully modified my BC reservation, but still have 2 reservations at moderate resorts in mid-July I am concerned could be cancelled on me.

A TA will save you the time of having to do it yourself but they will have to call and wait to get through. I don't know about EarMarked agencies but standard agencies will not have first priority of room changes.

To add, my friend said she spent 4 hours yesterday and ended up disconnected.

She also Told her clients that the moves for same dates that are free will not be a choice and she will have no say in what is given.

DVC rooms showing to owners are not the rooms available for these moves,

Disney has said that moves for same dates that are not being charged extra will have no choice in where they go.

The reasoning behind is to prevent complaints that there is a person who ended up in the GV and others will end up in something not seen as great.

I believe they were going to put them in a Saratoga studio, so if there are rooms showing to members, I bet Disney can figure something out.

Thank you for the response. I’ve not been able to get ours linked and only had put in connecting room requests before so I’m worried we won’t end up at the same resort. We don’t check in til July 25 though and they may be doing something totally different by then

I was worried about this too. I had booked in the cabins then changed to all star movies a couple weeks ago thinking it would be better to have 2 rooms. Then all this came out and I decided to change to dvc rented points 2 bedroom villa. I was afraid my sister and I would be assigned different resorts if we were moved. it is their first time so I did not want to have to deal with that.

I believe they were going to put them in a Saratoga studio, so if there are rooms showing to members, I bet Disney can figure something out.

I am sure they will..but wanted others to know that what we see for DvC bookings doesn’t mean anything for the cash side.

I would be very happy with Saratoga Springs. It maybe my one chance at this Deluxe. Since only bigger room are super high end there I would never be able to afford it compared to other deluxe that have bigger basic rooms.

True, but this close to their dates, I would think they could commandeer inventory via breakage of they need something specific.

I've been following along here for a fair few days now and am glad to see that some people have had success in getting lovely upgrades. A little bit of Pixie Dust in these tough times.
I'm not booked until the end of September (fingers crossed I can fly from the UK) and am booked at POFQ. I am totally happy with my choice and will be more than happy if FQ is open and this is where we stay but I've been following along to see what I might get offered instead. I know nobody has any idea of what resorts are likely to be open by then but I'm doing my home work to work out where else I might be happy and where I would really prefer not to stay!

Possibly, but the point is having owners share what is DVC gives others information that makes it seem like maybe there are options Disney can give them.

Rooms taken for breakage are taken from inventory before offered. Disney doesn’t just have the ability on the fly to take it. It doesn’t work like that.

The last minute availability page on dvcmember.com is also a good bit of the inventory they pull as they go as part of this relocation process. No need to take all of the breakage available if they don't require it.

I have a question..we are booked for mid August..are they making switches for that time yet? And how are they contacting to make resort switches, email?

Also, we are a group of 7 in 2 (would have been hopefully connecting) rooms at Pop..how would that work..would they give us the option for something together or connecting, or 2 rooms at the same resort?

Has anyone been moved from AKL Jambo yet on a resort only move, not a date change? Wondering where they are moving people to. Someone said upthread that they were trying to keep like with like, moving people from skyline resorts to Riviera, etc.

So I don't think I'll get moved (Pop July 17-21) but now that I've mulled it over, SSR wouldn't be bad. The reason I normally would dislike staying there is it's far away, and I love to park hop, go back to my resort, park hop more etc.. But if there's no park hopping and the parks close relatively early, being close to Disney Springs might be really nice. Again, not that it affects me, but I've changed my mind about it hehe.

I called this morning and the cast member told me that my reservation was slated to be canceled anyway so not to make a payment. My check in day is July 9 and I found that a bit concerning. I know things are constantly changing but he said guests only through July 4 are being transferred. I told him that I was hoping mine will get transferred as well but he did not say anything back. Not sure if the offer will end after for dates after July 4 or not.

Was this a regular CM? They seem to be completely out of the loop with what's going on. We have a reservation from July 10-15 & I'm also hoping it doesn't get cancelled. Wishing that we both get some pixie dust!!

Missed this before I posted - I’m wondering the same thing! I have a 6/22-25 reservation that I’d like to keep.

Only reservations through 7/4 are being relocated at this time. August, although only a couple months, is a long ways away and POP could very well open by then. But my guess is you have at least a few more weeks to a month before they get to August dates.

I would recommend that you eventually (not now because they can't help you) call and link the 2 reservations as "traveling with." They will give you a traveling with number, that way you will more than likely be moved to 2 other similar rooms or a larger room to accommodate all of you.
