Resort Change by Disney

The thought about NBA at GF is that Sago Key would be a NBA dedicated building as it's closest to the Convention Center, which would be available for team meetings, and maybe even fit a small practice gym or two in there. 8 teams x 23 (players + capped staff) gets you to about what Sago Key can hold and would make the most sense. It would also keep most of GF open which aligns with the amenities open at the main building being more open than just enough for DVC guests.

so am i reading correctly that if we are booked at Coronado for September that will not happen?
Or that Coronado will be able to be booked for OTHER guests for travel dates after October 14???

The NBA is scheduled to be at CSR until October 13 at the latest (if finals go to game 7), so you will most likely be moved to another open resort.

It appears, GF resort-side isn't opening until September 21 when those teams will either be gone or moved to CSR (if they move further into the finals process). It's very easy to funnel the VGF guests into the main building without breaking a GF resort-side bubble. The teams will have to access the courtyard pool - I don't see how you do this if you let regular guests into the other GF resort buildings prior to those teams leaving that resort.

I'm at WL on 7/27. I wonder if this means I'm getting moved to the Contemporary...
DH and I were just wondering the same thing...do you think that's the more probable one? (For us it looks like Poly is opening on our arrival date, so not sure if that might be an option in August).

I'll be fine with a move, but we do want two queen beds, no sofa beds. I feel bad for DH, WL was his bucket list resort and we'd gotten luck in getting it for the price we did (military rate that opened up one day).

Edit: Hopefully the list is still in flux as Disney figures things out.

Actually, they can not legally move any reservation booked on points from VGF to the main building. It would violate the DVC contract.

I don’t know what to think of the new resort info. Do you all take it as that’s when the specified resort will be opening or just when they are taking new reservations?

I have a Poly stay in 7/20 and I was hopeful that the resort would open on 7/11. Now I don’t know what to think. It’s out bucket list resort and being moved from there will be a tough pill to swallow.

I'm not quite sure what to make of it, either. The first half of the message seems to say it will open for guests to make reservations, but then the last line makes it sound like they are opening in general (or rather, that the other resorts are NOT opening yet).

FWIW, I'm supposedly at AoA start 8/2, and I was able to complete my online check-in, even though that message says it won't be open until 8/10.

I read it as, sometime in July we will begin taking reservations for these specific resorts that will open on these particular dates.

Can I ask a possibly dumb question? What would be Disney's reasoning for not opening the resort side of DVC resorts? From an uninformed point of view, if they're already staffing the resort, why wouldn't they just open the whole thing?

Riddle me this Batman:
I have a stay for end of November at CSR (Booked thru Dreams Unlimited). Since current statements say only DVC/FW Cabins will be open, I received an email from my agent saying she'll get us moved if we want to keep our dates (I said "yes"). If CSR is RUMORED to be open then, will they move me now based on current policy, or will they put a limit on moves based on date of trip? Oh the craziness of these times. I'm fine with whatever, but agree that the lack of information is causing so much speculation and confusion.

So this morning when I logged on to see what they have done with these annual pass extensions to my shock my late August reservation Was switched from the Beach Club to the Polynesian. I didn’t even receive an email about this. I’m trying to hang in there Disney but you’re making it very difficult!
I had 8 nights starting aug 29 at beach club and they switched me to the Poly. I did not get a phone call or email just happened to notice it this morning and my Disney experience
Are you booked through a TA?
Same here just noticed on friday. No notification. I am not complaining either! Asked my TA to make sure it was not a mistake and now on their website I see the Poly instead of BC listed for their special.

I was going to ask, as PP did, whether the people moved from BC to Poly had all made resies through a travel agency which is well known here. There has been speculation that those are the ones who have discovered the move by seeing it in their MDE account and have received no notice.

Maybe you are right.

Imagination running wild. . .
1. They are changing their mind about which resorts/times to open. or
2. They made a mistake and are fixing it. or
3. They have decided not to open AT ALL.

Why can't I just walk away from my computer???? Anxiety!

Or they where only going to post they info for a little while and DPB will release a blog later on

After a long 3 week wait, they finally removed the Dining plan from our package and adjusted the remaining balance.
Hope what we are hearing about Pop is true. I would be happy to be anywhere at Disney! Now they just have to change our tickets from park hopper to base tickets. This whole process has been very stressful but I'm glad we've hung in there. Only 40 days to go!

Where was it posted? I keep looking at disney resorts update page and haven’t seen anything change.

we are also needing our park hopper to change to a base ticket. We are at 49 days and counting! We are so excited (desperately need to get away from the house) and are ready to take all precautions, it’s just so unusual to have so much uncertainty this close to a trip!

i am patiently (not really) waiting for my email for early August! Booked at PORFQ and am so anxious about our hotel situation!
Please let us know when/if you get info! We are at POFQ for 2 stays later in the year and probably won't find out anything soon because of the dates. Just wondering what their current plan is. :-)
