Resort Chacacter Caravan

I was looking at the Where to find character list on Mouseforless. The was a listing for Resort Chacacter Caravan. Does anyone know what this is? There seems to be a lot of characters listed. Is this some sort of bus that comes bu the resort? Just wondering.

I know that they added this feature when they took away early entry mornings...I believe they've discontinued it since we now have EMH but I'm not 100% sure.

The bus was on a schedule and would go to certain resorts for a short while in the early morning.

They used to have the Character Caravan when the didn't have Extra Magic Hours or Early Entry for resort guests. I think they stopped doing that when EMH came back a couple of years ago.

When they brought back EE mornings in the form of EMH they did away with the Character Caravans... I rather miss them, but would much prefer getting into the parks an hour early!!!

I thought i read that they still had one for the AKL. But I have no idea where I read that.

Thanks for the info. I would much rather go to the park early, even though I am sure my kids would have loved seeing the characters at the resort.

I think my family was in the minority, we liked CC. We aren't real morning people so we were glad to sleep in a bit and still have great character interaction in our lobby! But now we just cope with it by not going to any parks on ee mornings, we go at regular opening to non-ee parks. Works for us!

Character Caravan was a backhanded gimme replacement for Surprise Mornings. In an effort to cut back on costs, WDW heavily reduced operating hours, shuttered attractions and eliminated Early Entry (Surprise Mornings.) Then, due to concessions with the labor union that the characters are a part of, WDW had many character hours to fill.

So, they gave us Character Caravan. An hour in the crowded lobby with 3 characters that we were sure to see later in the day anyhow - in replacement for restricted access to the parks - nearly guaranteeing uncrowded touring. Oh yeah, that's a fair trade. And, to top it off - they told us that we asked for it!!!

Guest outcry won out in the end and WDW returned Early Entry and later expanded it to the evenings, as well. Disney dropped the ball, but at least they picked it back up.

equal replacement for the early entry perk but it was nice to have the characters at the resorts. We were checking into the AKL about 8AM in the morning (after spending a crowded night at ASM) and when those massive, dark front doors at the AKL opened and my daughters say Rafiki and the othe characters......it was priceless!!!!!

Which they could still incorporate the characters into the resorts more.
