My girlfriend is going next month, she is staying at the Contemporary, and wants to to know if there is is transportation between the resorts, downtown disney, and the parks. There is a couple days where she wants to take a break in the middle of the day and do some shopping. I told her it would probably be easier to rent a car, am I right? Do the buses go bact to the resorts only or both the resort and parks?

Unless things have changed drastically, WDW Transportation does have bus service from the resorts to DTD and from the parks to DTD.

The only thing they don't offer is resort to resort.

Being a Contemporary guest... she also has access to the Monorail which will include stops at the Poly and the Grand Floridian resorts. GREAT shopping in both of those places.

The buses go back and forth all day between the parks and DTD. It's a very smooth running operation. She'll do fine!

Only the Monorail goes between those 3 specific resorts and as the poster above me stated, the buses don't go from resort to resort.

With that said, I've taken it from WDW to a resort I wanted to see... then ride the bus back to WDW and get on the bus for the resort I was staying in. It's a very long trip and time consuming.... I wouldn't suggest it!

I also wouldn't rent a car unless she truly intended to hop from resort to resort.

She was going to call Disney, but I knew you guys would have the answer!! Now if she decided to go back to the parks from downtown disney, would she have to go the resort first and then catch a different shuttle or do they go right to the parks as well? I'm just trying to get all possible scenerios for her! Thanks!

While there is continually operating bus service between the parks and all WDW resorts, there is NOT bus service between the parks and DTD. To make that trip, you need to change buses at any resort. From the MK it's easy, just leave the park and monorail (or walk) over to the Contemporary to catch a bus to DTD.

A rental car is really unecessary, unless you frequently venture off Disney property.

They eliminated the bus service between the parks and DTD 2 or 3 years ago because people were parking free at DTD and hoping a bus to the parks. There are busses from DTD to the resorts. So you would have to transfer busses at a resort to go a park from DTD.

that it would be less of a hassle to do her shopping in one day and parks on the other so shw doesn't have to switch all over the place. Thanks for your help!

I think Obi-Wan and Kimmielee need to spend some more time at WDW! Get away from the computers and go have some fun, guys!

NO BUS SERVICE FROM DTD TO/FROM THEME PARKS. PERIOD.

Buses go from the resorts to DTD, but there's no direct Disney Transport route from DTD to/from ANY theme park. The only way to do it is to go from DTD to a resort, and then from that resort to a park.
