I know there is more info on the DVC board, but they have a different mind set from us "renters" ;) (not that, that's a bad thing, just different). :wizard: ANYWAY:

Every time I work the BRP (AP) genie I get Saratoga Springs so I am actually starting to think about it for part of our next stay. BUT why is it SO available? I looked at the disney site and can't really get a look at there pool, etc.. . so wondering what kind of amneities they have? Anyone stay there yet? What did you think? I like the location next to the shopping center. ;) Although that could be dangerous. :earseek:

We stayed there in June on rented points and we loved it! I think it's probably got more availability because it's newer (so not that many people really know much about it) and it's HUGE.

Here are some of the things we loved -

We really enjoyed being a short walk from Downtown Disney and all the restaurants and shopping. We also really enjoyed the main poool area. Our two year old LOVED the Donald play fountain so much! It was easily the highlight of the trip for us. They don't have a sitdown restaurant, but we didn't care since we were so close to Downtown Disney. We thought Artist Palette had really great food - different from the same old burgers and fries you see at lots of places. We really enjoyed the flatbreads and soups! Yum!! We had a studio and it was absolutely beautiful. Everything still felt very new. And, the grounds were beautiful. Also, we found the bus service to be great. No transportation problems at all. We also like that fact that it never felt crowded or busy - despite the fact that it was peak summer season. It just always felt very relaxed and laidback there.

It was a bit spread out, but that didn't really bother us.

Overall, we loved it there and would definately return again!

I think the reason SSR and OKW are vacant more often is the layout. It's more condo-like vs hotel-like and some people don't like that.

I stayed at OKW in '99 (didn't rent, just booked) and we liked it, just not as much as the other resorts. Although between you and me, if it came down to OKW for $100 or any of the values, I'd be all over OKW. :)

Oh and we are staying in SSR for one night in October. I hope we like it!

Because SSR DVC memberships aren't completely sold out, there is lots of inventory for the developer to "rent" to DisneyWorld Resorts. Therefore, lots more rooms available to the general public through Disney. PP is also correct, SSR hasn't caught on yet the way that BWV, BCV, VWL have.

We're making our first trek to SSR at the end of September.

When you guys get back this fall please post a review of the resort here, so we can see what you think. Thanks, Mky princess:

Have a great trip. ;)

and, for whatever reason, it was "okay"...nothing bad, but it just didn't have the same Disney-feel of other resorts for us. We split the stay with POR and actually liked POR better!
SSR felt like a very nice, gated suburban neighborhood. The furnishings were all new and very pretty and we liked the fact that you could walk (during the day) or take a boat to DTD. The main pool was great...zero-depth entry and themed with a natural look to it. As others have said, it is very spread out. The CM's weren't especially magical...polite, but any conversation seemed brief and direct.
Ultimately, you'll get many different opinions about any WDW resort. I'm still glad we tried it, have no regrets, just will probably stay in other WDW resorts that are a bit more themed.
