Resizing photo to use as avatar?

I know it can't be that hard, but I can not figure out how to resize a photo to use as my avatar. I've been searching & still can't figure it out. I have a photo on photobucket, and I am in edit where it shows width & height. Some time ago, in edit you had the option to save as... but all I see is width & height. I don't know what dimensions to use. Can some one please point me in the right direction.

Avatars are extremely small. The maximum size permitted on DISboards is 100 pixels by 100 pixels, or 3.9 Kb.

In Photobucket, edit photos, go to resize, and set the larger number to 100. The smaller number will be changed automatically. If the file size is too large (> 3.9 Kb), set it to something smaller until it works.
