OMG!! I haven't been to this board in ages!! I hope I didn't miss anything!! :upsidedow

I just wanted to share these resin magnets that I made for a friend:

She is going to use them in favor boxes at her Chef Mickey's Welcome Party!

I'm really excited about them!!

I saw your post on the wedding board. They are very, very cute! I'm a resin dummy, even though a lot of people cast things when I was in school...how do you get that domed shape?

It's really easy to get the dome shape... That's what the mold that I used is shaped like! :goodvibes Hehe... I just crack myself up sometimes...

roflmao :rotfl:

guess my next question would be...what kind of molds do you use? lol

Those are awesome, I want some! In my head, resin is just a big stinky sticky mess - is it easier to work with than I am thinking?

What is in the magnets - are the Mickey heads confetti/sequins? What are the little white bits that look like sprinkles?

Very cool! What brand of resin did you use?

Here are the basic things you would need to start working with resin [I've only put the price for the things you may not be familiar with]:

resin - $15.00 8oz.

catalyst (hardener) - $5 for about 1 oz.

parchment paper or wax paper or some other type of work surface

respirator - the type that is used for fumes - $15-$20

safety goggles - 97 cents!!

disposable cups

stir sticks - they have to be flat, like a popsicle stick

disposable gloves made of nitrile or butyl - about $3/box of 20 nitrile, and about $15/pair for the butyl. You have to get one of these types because you don't want the resin to penetrate a regular rubber glove.

Heat gun for getting out air bubbles - $15

Transparent Colored dyes made especially for resin - $5/oz./color

Molds - $3 to $4 each

Almost forgot... You'll also need a mold release and conditioner also - $7-$8

Then, whatever you are going to put in the resin - glitter, sequins, etc.

I think that's everything. If I think of anything else, I'll add it!

DisneyDork have you ever thought about doing a cyber class for us? I know you have listed the supplies before, but I really don't know what to do with all of them...

Thank you so much! I think it's neat that there are people that always look at my stuff!! :goodvibes

A cyber class?? How does one go about doing that? That sounds neat! I've never taught any craftie things before. That would be fun!

It can be any way you want to run it. Kind of like a recipe. Supply list, then steps...maybe a few pics. I would love to know how to do the resin stuff that you do, or your mickey heads. Anything...it's just an area where I have no idea how to start...

And please keep sharing your pics...Your things are amazing! :)

I second the vote for a class.

There was a great class done by Bernard&missBianca on the scrapbooking forum on paper layering, but for the life of me I can't find it now. I don't know if I have their name or the class name wrong, or both.
