Hello there,

My parents are FL residents. They are planning 2 WDW trips this year-4 days at first week of Feb. & 5 days for Thanksgiving. I suggested that she do the following:

1) Take advantage of the buy 4, get 3 free deal for Feb. & get the $200 gift card that comes with the deal

2) Get a residents AP to save $$ on tickets for both trips, possibly get a good deal on Thanksgiving resort rates, and qualify for the DDE (Tables in Wonderland now? I forgot the current name) to get 20% off all meals.

I'm sure I missed several disclaimers with the info I suggested. Any info, corrections, or suggestions to help my parents save some $$ on their upcoming trips?

They would do better buying a seasonal annual pass. Take the cost of the 4/3 deal tickets and trade them in for seasonal passes. You have blackout dates (week of easter, summer - June thru middle august, wk of christmas and wk of new year).

cost is abot $240 a person w/ tax.

I agree with the poster above-its $254.54 each with tax. We have seasonal tickets-the blackout dates are times we dont wanna go and we still get the AP rates for everything.:thumbsup2

If your parents have AAA they can get the Florida Resident's passes cheaper than through WDW. That's what DH & I did for our anniversary gifts in 2007. The perks with the AP's were great, too.

The above link shows the math and how it works. But if the first trip is under the 4/3 deal you'd be much better off on buying the 7 day ticket with no expiration to receive the highest discount (better than AAA by a long shot) on a FL AP.

If getting a seasonal AP it's a tossup between a 7-day base ticket under the 4/3 deal and the AAA discount. It's been a few weeks since I ran the numbers for a seasonal AP AAA discount for someone, but I remember that it really wasn't much of a discount, so it's just whatever you feel is easier, imho. Sorry the above link doesn't show the math on this one.

FIY the TIW card has blackout dates, specifically holidays. It's not a huge deal but just wanted to make sure you knew. We got the regular FL Res. AP, not the seasonal, because we like to be able to travel to Disney whenever we want to. Like in the summer and holidays when they black out.
