I've noticed that weekends are blacked out for the "Pixie Pass." I am not a resident, but am trying to plan and curious whether this means that weekends might be a bit lighter in late August? Or are there expected to be the same amount of residents coming into the parks are usual?

Weekends are blocked out all year for Pixie Passes. By the last two weeks of August, all AP's have park access on weekends except for Pixie (but again, Pixie passes don't allow weekends at any time of the year). The end of August is quieter, with the exception of weekends at Epcot due to the F&W festival.

Thanks for this info. I'm still not sure how that will impact crowd levels though. Should I assume that it won't, since weekends are always blacked out?

Correct. Pixie Pass is always blocked on weekends, that is how the pass is sold and why it is a lot cheaper. All other AP's can be used on weekends by that time of year. Won't make any difference on locals with AP's in the parks on weekends, except for Epcot, which attracts a lot of locals from Friday evenings through the weekend, all year round, and even more so during festivals (like F&W in August). Crowds are basically at some of the lowest levels of the year at the end of August due to the heat, storms, hurricane threats, and school - locals aren't going to effect the crowd levels at the other parks all that much.

Thank you for this great response!

I have Pixie Pass and the reason it works for me is I have no interest in the weekend crowds, or the few weeks we are blocked during holidays.

It has no impact, def does not reduce crowds. In reality it increases crowds during weekdays because for many if it were not for the Pixie price point they wouldn't be going to Disney at all.

I always have gotten the Pixie Dust pass (or its equivalent) for the past 20 years. I am local and have zero desire to visit the parks on weekends or holidays (which is a shared viewpoint of many of my local friends, etc). That being said, I have full flexibility during any weekday to visit the parks, so it likely helps WDW level the crowds/resourcing by offering this pass.

I would not insinuate that weekends are less crowded because of the Pixie Dust pass offering.
