Hi everyone. Last trip was in Spring 2001. Now we are visiting Grandma and doing 2 days at Universal and 1 day at Disney.I am looking at these 2 hotels. Does anyone have advice for me? I would prefer a suite but am open to regular room. Thanks.

Hi, you can't go wrong with either hotel.

The RI is brand new and is going to probably be more pricy. Check the marriot rewards.com website for some into rates.

If it were me, I'd go with the RI just because it's brand new. We have stayed at the RI LBV and it was very nice with comfortable beds.

I have toured a Hawthron suites hotel in my hometown, and it was spacious, clean, and afforable.

Herc.

I've stayed at Hawthorne Suites SeaWorld three times and always had a nice stay. The suites were spacious and clean, and I always felt safe there. The pool is large and nicely landscapped, and the free breakfast buffet had hot meals now, as well as cereals, fruits, muffins, and the like. It's my favorite off-site hotel. :)

Thanks so much for your help. If anyone else has an oppinion, please add your ideas.

Hi! This may not help you very much, but I'll put in my two cents. The Residence Inn Seaworld is a new resort, but I thought their free breakfast buffet wasn't up to Marriot standards. (under-cooked sausages, not much variety in food, etc...plus, the chairs in the dining area were littered with stains!) The rooms there are clean, but nothing to write home about. If they try to give you a room close to the elevator, I would just ask for something else. If you have a room by an elevator you will be inundated with noise from guests using them.

I have never stayed at the Hawthorne Suites. I believe this is an older property, but I might be wrong. I really don't like staying at older hotels in Orlando because the housekeeping staff usually doesn't clean out the air filters regularly, and that drives me up the wall. (You can smell the dust and mold.)

Your best bet, in my opinion, is to book a room at a newly opened hotel in that general area. You may want to call AAA and find out which hotels are brand new in that area. If you call the hotel directly you can probably get a better deal than booking through AAA.

Sorry to be so negative. I do wish you the best of luck in your search, and I hope you have a great time in Florida. Cheers!

you can get an $85 a night rate for the RI Seaworld when you call them if you have AAA. If not its $89 a night. I was booked there for July, but didn't go to Florida, my MIL and DS went there to check it out for me and they said it was beautiful. It had a 1 BR and full kitchen.
