Reserving Dinner Shows & DDP

Just wondering how this works when you're on the dining plan. When I'm online (even when I bring up my ressie), it shows I have to pay in advance. Do they charge your cc now, then reverse it when you show up and use your KTTW card w/ your dining plan credits on it? I'm just worried I'll get stuck w/ that on my cc and have a hassle getting it off!

Also, the Spriit of Ahola is the only one that really appeals to our family, but I've heard mixed reviews. Any opinons? How long does it last? Thanks.

If we did this, we would most likely cancel our Ohana dinner ressie.

I am not sure, but I see no one has answered your question yet.

Personally I haven't done a show but from reading the boards I do believe they charge your card now.
I have also heard that if you have the DDP, that you can call wine dine (I believe) and have them change it for you.

Now all this is from "reading the boards", so I am going off other people's statements and trying to remember.

Hopefully this will bump your post and someone with more experience will chime in.

Good luck and have a great trip! :)

If you are on the dining plan, and using dining credits, be sure to enter your resort confirmation number. The system will then KNOW you have the dining plan and assume you are using credits to pay. You will have to enter a cc# to guarantee the reservation. It will run the card, for a $1 charge I believe, to be sure it is ok.

At the time of service, you can then pay oop or use dining credits.

I've read on the boards that there has been some difficulty with cc's being charged the full amount when making the dinner show reservations online while using DDP. We called and made our reservations with a CM for the dinner shows just to make sure we weren't charged full price. If you haven't already made the ressies, you may want to do them through the phone just to make sure you're not charged the full amount.

It absolutely WILL charge you the full amount if you don't sign in and link your ADR to your resort reservation.

I have never had trouble with it, as it does show the amount it is about to charge you before you finish up. If the amount is 0, you should be fine.

Even when I bring up my ressie, it's still showing the total due is the full price of the tickets. I guess I will have to call, it's such a pain to call in though.

if it is showing a balace owed even after linking your room ressie then it will charge yor cc the full amount. its a glitch in the system sometimes it works sometimes it doesn't. your best bet is calling. thats what i had to do to avoid the charge. like I told the cm Im already paying enough for the dxdp! :rotfl:

Dinner shows, just like CRT have been known for this to happen. Ideally, you should be able to Associate your Resort Reservation and have it see that you have the dining plan. (Note: Dinner Shows and CRT are still on the "old" system, so you must do it again).

However, sometimes the system does not pick up that you have an appropriate dining plan associated and still wants to charge you. There are two solutions to this:
  1. Reserve now and pay the charge. This will be credited back to you when you dine (or pick up the tickets in the cases of the shows).
  2. Call Disney Dining and have them flag that you have a Dining Plan.
There have been a few cases where someone did get refunded after booking but before picking up tickets/dining. However, 99% of these cases the original reservation was canceled and then rebooked, which is a risky proposition as there is no guarantee that the time will be there when you rebook (or when the phone CM does it for you).

I see that no one mentioned this yet -- but read carefully what category you are booking your seats in. The dining plan does not cover all seats in the shows. I believe you can NOT use your dining plan for category I seats.

The system will tell you that these seats are available but you need to pay full price since your dining plan can't be used.

Just be careful when reserving....
