We will be booking a 2 BR for our trip in august and have no preference over view with the understanding that there are point discrepancies but can you request Jambo versus Kidani? I have zero interest in Kidani. In fact it would be a deal breaker for us. Thanks so much!

The various room types at Jambo and Kidani are specific booking categories. So, you can select "2BR Savanna view - Jambo". The regular DVC rooms at Jambo are all on the fifth floor and the 2BRs have two full bath, versus 3 full bath at Kidani.

I'm curious why Kidani would be a deal-breaker. We like both, but prefer Kidani for several reasons.

as stated, it is NOT a request. you either book jambo or you book kidani.

kidani 2BRs have an extra bathroom and jambo is just a short walk or bus ride away. but if you've gotta have jambo (i love the lobby), then make sure you book it.

(you probably won't have to, but if necessary, you can just waitlist jambo house if kidani is all that is available.)

Im sure Kidani is lovely but I like the proximity of Jambo to the three restaurants, specifically Mara, that I suspect, with two teenagers, we will frequent often. Thank you for your reply-- very helpful :)

Totally understand. My son is only 7, and he doesn't have a need for a QS at this point. It's not a bad walk over to Jambo for the kids, but they might like the larger pool and game room, which are right next to Mara. Don't forget about Kidani's Sanaa --- perhaps one of the best restaurants at WDW!

I totally agree! We thought Mara was just Ehhh, and we aren't fans of Boma (because it's a buffet). I like Jiko, but with Sanaa at Kidani, there's no need to go to Jiko. I LOVE Kidani over Jambo for just about every reason...rooms, layout, savanna, pool, and bus service.:thumbsup2

Yeah, we don't like the small size and strange layout of the Jambo kitchen/LR. And the master with attached bath with separate jet tub and shower is much more to our liking.

Most of the time when we are at AKV, we have 6+ people, so we really need that third full bath. Having the park buses stop at Kidani first is another nice plus.

We prefer Kidani as well for the reasons you mentioned. We prefer the separate tub and shower and having the master bathroom directly connected to the bedroom as well as the larger living area. And we have the option to request a room on a lower floor, closer to the animals. With all of the AKV rooms in Jambo House on the 5th and 6th floors, that's not an option.

I will disagree with you about Boma however. It's a "must do" for us on most trips, even when we aren't staying at AKV. When staying at Kidani, we don't mind the walk over to Jambo, in fact, we really enjoy the walk back after dinner. Prior to Kidani's existence my one complaint about AKL was that there was no place to walk after dinner.

A few years back we stayed at Kidani with my MIL and her sister. They are elderly and neither walk very well. Knowing this in advance we got them both scooters. Thank goodness we did; our room was on the far side of Kidani and the walk even to the Kidani lobby was like walking from AFRICA! :rotfl:
