Reserved A cruise

I put the down payment on a place holder while I was on the ship at the beginning of this month, I am unsure how to book with it.
I was told if i transfer the reservation to a travel agent I can keep the stateroom credit that disney offers, the 10% discount and potentially receive more credits?

Anyone have any advise or a travel agent they recommend?

If you transfer it to a TA it must be done within 30 days and I believe your stateroom credit gets cut in 1/2. We just always keep them with DCL and then completely control our reservations. We save money (5%) by purchasing Disney gift cards with our Target red card and paying it off with those every month.

oh okay, i didn't think it sounded right getting extra credit. i'd rather plan my own trip. I do the gift card thing thats how i'm paying for my trip in April

No no. You keep the Disney credit. But you get half the amount of credit from the TA. For example, if your cruise was $5000 and the TA would normally give $200 onboard credit for that, because you booked onboard, you'd now only get $100 extra from the TA. If you booked less than 30 days ago, it doesn't hurt to contact a TA to ask. There are a few online agencies that give good OBC.

Do you mean the stateroom credit provided by DCL gets cut in 1/2?
Does that apply if you list the TA at the time of booking the placeholder?

No, the OBC given by the TA may be cut, not the OBC given by DCL.

No, it's been reported, if you designate the TA a the time of the booking, there's no cut. Only on a transferred reservation.

Specifically for Dreams Unlimited, this is true for on board bookings made after November 15, 2015. If you booked onboard before 11/15/15, you get the full amount. This chart explains it well:

Yes, Dreams Unlimited is who I use.
If you don't have a TA for the current cruise, you can assign the cruise to one within 30 days. If you have one, but want to switch to a different one, you need to book directly with DCL with no TA named and then assign to the new agent within the 30 days.

Do you (or anyone) know if this applies to Costco and their gc perk as well? Is Costco halfing the gc for transferred reservations?
