This reservation system that DVC and or Disney has is getting ridiculous. So we are trying to stay a week in late May and because of a medical emergency we had to move our reservation from the 1st week to the last. So our fault that we are unable to book our whole stay on points. Understandable. But what gets me is that they have availability for cash but not for points. I get it Disney gets so many units but I wander just how many are taken from DVC and put into Disney for Cash ressies. Is it part of there allotted untis or can they dip into DVC when they start to run out. Nobody really knows. That is one thing that bugs me. When I bought I was under the impression that the DVC part of the resort is for DVC members only. Not that they can use some for cash reservations. Ok well I have to pay several of the days on cash. So when DVC services is trying to book me the rest of the stay for cash, it says available but unable to confirm. So after putting me on hold to find out the problem, I am told that even know it says they are available they really are not. Hmmmm. Well I am staring online at a screen that says available. Well they may be available for Disney but not for DVC. What?? So I have to book through Disney which is several hundred dollars more then the DVC discount that you are suppose to get as a "member". So even though there is availability it is just not for DVC members wether using points or paying with cash. Boy the benefits of membership is awesome. So now I have 5 different reservations for a one week stay. And the kicker is, even though it is the same type of room for all 5 reservations, consider me lucky there, I was told it is possible I might have to change rooms. If i had to do it over again I probably would not join. Unless you can book your vacation way out and have no changes in your plans it is becoming a huge headache.

Ok sorry, RANT over.

You need to do a few searches on this subject. It's clear you don't understand how DVC works.

Anytime a member uses their points to stay somewhere other than DVC or, possibly, RCI trades, that stay has to be paid for. So DVC takes the points that stay represents and gives them to Disney Reservation Center to sell to get the funds to pay for that member's non-DVC trip. So all those cruises you see offered on the DVC member website, they are paid for with cash. Same with the Adventure by Disney trips.

Unless members don't get to use their points for anything but DVC stays and trades to RCI, you are always going to see DVC lodging for sale on the Disney website.

The time you are looking at has probably been mostly booked up long ago. That's the holiday weekend, plus Gay Days right after that.

Hope you get something. Get yourself put on the wait list for SSR or OKW and see what happens. Maybe you'll get lucky.

Ummmm, what is Gay Days ? Is this something Disney sponsors ?

I think its an Orlando area event so its more than Disney.
And I believe Disney hotels post which park they are attending each day (so you can choose to participate or not)
But there is a board at Dis for more information.

Nope, it's just something that happens in Orlando that fills all the theme parks and hotels there. Google it.

I am not against a person sexual preference but is this like a flamboyant party in the parks. Is it overwhelming ? Is it still a family environment ?

Thanks

Our DVC boards are not the place to discuss Gay Days, Brazilian Tourists, or any other group. Remember that you are speaking about many people who are also your fellow DVC Members. This thread has gone off the topic that relates to resales and DVC in general and is now closed. If you wish to discuss Gay Days, you may do so respectfully on our Gay & Lesbian board.
