reservations question

Something just hit me -- probably a dumb question.

Use year is in June. I want to go to WDW (but not to my home resort) in October 2010, but need to borrow 2001 points to do it.

Do I have to wait to June to make my reservation when my 2010 points hit? If so, I would have problems finding availability, right?

Or, since my trip isn't until October, can I still make the reservation at the 7 month mark in March even though I won't have enough points until June?

No, you don't have to wait. Your stay would be in your 2010 use year, so you can borrow 2011. Your 2010 & 2011 points are already in your account, they don't "hit" in June. If you check your account online, it should show 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012.

Reservations can always be made 11 months ahead at your home resort, and 7 months ahead at all the others. It doesn't have anything to do with your UY.

Your Oct 2010 trip will take place in your June 2010 UY. That means you can use banked 2009 points, 2010 points, and borrow 2011 points to pay for it.

You just have to have the points available to use at the time of travel. You could call today and book at your home resort and then in March, 7 months prior, call and change to the resort your want.

whew! I thought of this as a possible "gotcha" and got REALLY nervous REAL quick. THANK YOU for putting my mind at ease!!!!

Now I just need to get past ROFR and actually BE a member so I can make the reservation!
