Reservations question

When we join (which we are starting the process tomorrow) we want to stay at AKV during Christmas time. We are going to be using developer's points which cannot be booked until 7 months before checkout (at which time I am assuming all Christmas studios will be booked). Is there anyway I can reserve three studios now with a regular deposit to hold them? (Disney told me I couldn't do this). I will talk to my guide tomorrow, however, I am worried about this becasue we really want to do this trip at AKV 12-21 to 12-26 (along with everyone else)! Any suggestions? MS is not open on Sundays is it? What time do they open on Monday?

Well I doubt you can get them using cash for Christmas but MS is right you can't convert.

I think your guide is not really going to be able to help you since you want to use the Developer's points and you need THREE studios. (I wonder if there are that many even still left for all of your stay, they aren't throwing anyone out for you)

The three studios is your big issue, I am not sure what to tell you except that I don't see how it's going to work. I just don't think your chances of three studios at AKV being open for your dates are good. If you waitlist you run the risk of one or two studios clearing but not getting all three.

There are times you have to have the 11 month window to make sure you get what you want. Christmas week is one of them.

Congratulations on joining DVC. We purchased at AKV too.

I just looked at the member site last night and saw that MS has new Sunday hours starting today. They will be open 9-4:30 PM.

I know that everyone has been calling to reserve holiday time already. I know several people have had to wait list for the dates they want. I would doubt you would be able to find availability, especially at AKV at 7 months. We had a difficult time just find a week to use our Developer points at AKV this summer.

My understanding is that if you book with your regular points at 11 months and then try to switch to Developer points at 7 months it is like making a new reservation. Your first reservation is canceled, and if anyone is on the waiting list for those dates, they get priority over you to make the new reservation. So for the holiday timeframe, I doubt you would be successful.

Since you don't have a member number, MS may not even talk to you. You'd have to talk to your guide and he/she is not at the MS number.

If you are buying the AKV points just to get the Developer points to use for Christmas, you may want to rethink your purchase because it is just not going to happen for you. Every member at AKV would like to have those rooms and there is no way you can reserve them ahead of time so you can book them at 7 months out. If you still go through with the purchase, you will need to use your points for a different trip and not Christmas time. Unless you wouldn't mind staying at OKW or SSR and even those might be hard to get.
