Reservations mean nothing for entry? Answer: Post #47

Maybe they're trying to scare everyone away on Thursday :p
It would be a nightmare for cm to have to refund people because they weren't let in, and very bad pr.
All info on here up to now, which includes peoples conversations with cm's, has said you will get in 1 hour before your reservation. You are supposed to be at the location 15mn before your ressie, so that gives you 45mn beforehand and unlimited time afterwards to enjoy Black Spire.

I imagine they are referring to people travelling with the party that has the reservation. As others noted. If DH and I have an ADR for Oga's (which we do) for the two of us, anyone else travelling with us but not on our reservation for Oga's may not be permitted in with us. Same for Savi's...the builder with their plus 1, but not anyone else hanging with them.

The concept does not make sense. For each person they turn away, that is money being turned away. At $100 - $200 a guest, that is serious gross profit for these experiences.

I honestly would not give much credence to a Facebook Cast Member. :thumbsup2

A FB member claims to be a CM with knowledge regarding SWGE procedures. Policy is opposite of DL. Opposite of what callers were told. Opposite of common sense. In what world is Disney going to turn away a guest who guaranteed a saber purchase.

Bus drivers are a much better source of information.

DLR and WDW having different policy is not unusual. CMs at WDTC often know less than most guests, so perhaps they *could* be wrong. But, I agree with your last sentence 100%. Iger & Chapek will be stuffing their pockets from these experiences. I cannot imagine Disney turning away that kind of gross profit.

I also don't imagine their policy being different than it was at Pandora
If you think of a FP as being equal to an ADR or Experience reservation. They let you in as long as you had a FP
Also we got in to pick up an Avatar doll purchase or to update face paint

We'll find out soon enough. But if this were true, I would expect the reservation confirmation I have from Savi's to say something like "Warning: Access to SWGE is NOT guaranteed; your reservation will be forfeit if you do not secure entry to SWGE prior to your reservation time." Instead, it just says the standard, "Allow 90 minutes of travel time within WDW property." If I had to get in a virtual queue and wait four hours to even enter the land, that would be materially different from allowing 90 minutes for travel within WDW property.

Well, don't shoot the messenger.
My friend that is merchandise coordinator inside GE says they're really not sure what they'll do.
This is not uncommon here, decisions are made split second and this is why we don't get a lot of information ahead of time
I say let's breathe and see what tomorrow brings.

So they know how many people should be in the land at a given time based on reservations, wouldn't they just count that number of people first and then allow others in until they meet capacity?

To not allow people in who have reservations would leave a bad taste and overwhelm CMs who have to deal with the calls for refunds and complaints. I don't see this happening. I agree though that if someone in your party isn't on the reservation, they should plan on seeing other parts of DHS because I don't think they will be allowed in.

all I know is that if they start turning away reservation holders who have a hefty no-show fee attached to their reservation, they need to have a way to process the reservations in order to prevent being charged, that doesn't involve standing in line somewhere or being on phone hold forever. Maybe have a CM with an Ipad who can make the adjustment right there.

Blog Mickey just posted info regarding virtual queuing and information regarding reservations:
"One thing to note is that if you have an Oga’s Cantina or Savi’s Workshop reservation, you will be allowed to enter the land one hour prior to your reservation regardless of the land status." This would change my entire strategy. I'll be there 9/5. If it has been going to VQ each day before, may have to do rest of park first, then try to get into the land before my reservation at 1010am at Oga's. Instead of going GE first, do rest of park, go back to land for Oga's

Granted I'm just some outside observer far far away, but I feel like the decisions that were made to ensure an easy experience at Batuu West backfired (like blocking out So Cal APs) and made them wait on announcing things for Batuu East even though the guest makeup is dramatically different.

I wonder if being at capacity means truly at capacity or there's a "phased" capacity. In the "old days" when I worked at a movie theater a sold out movie wasn't really sold out, we just stopped selling tickets at 93-95% to account for broken seats and to avoid playing the "everyone move in to the empty seats" game. If the programmers are smart enough, the "capacity" level is tied to how many ADRs/party sizes are in a certain time period. Like if the Oga's reservation is at 1:30, those reservation holders are in the head count starting at 12:30.

That would be brilliant but they have not got a history of programmers being that good

I've been following WDW Prep on Instagram and she confirmed during yesterday's media event that reservations will get you in.

ETA: Just saw the Blog Mickey post, as well.

Does that include the plus one?

That's what concerns me is leaving my dad behind while I going into Savi's for my 9:25. He has a reservation at 12:05.

I'd of course choose not leaving him by himself but I'm hoping this is not something i have to choose. Then again my trip is in December so maybe things will be clearer by then

Plus 1 yes. That’s how the reservation is written, builder plus one.

Plus the rest of the builders party, I would not expect that.

I have a party of 3 and 2 of us are on the reservation to build droids. I would assume that means the 3rd can come in.
