what are my options for rooms for 4 adults 2 kids?

Are you looking for on or off site options?

we'd prefer on-site, but I'll entertain off-site, especially if the price is right and people have had good experience with shuttling from that particular hotel.

We had a party of 6 - although it was 4 kids and 2 adults. We stayed with connecting rooms at the AS and at FW. We liked both. However, with 4 adults I suggest connecting rooms at a resort. You'll have 2 bathrooms. If you want something more than the AS, how about a moderate?

We also stayed at the Amerisuites at Calypso Cay. Very nice and clean rooms! It was well worth the price- but, again, only one bathroom.

I was thinking FW till u mentioned 4 adults..think that may be a tad tight... 2 connecting rms would be good.... BUT why not consider renting points from a DVC member for a 2 bd. rm villa at one of the ' Home Away from Home' resorts many have had positve remarks on this board about that....

Again, that also depends on how much you want to spend. The most ecomonical would be an AS resort, with a code rate, 2 rooms would probably run you $120 a night. 2 rooms at a moderate, also with a code would be, $180 per night. 2 rooms at a deluxe would start at $240 per night and go up from there. I have a friend who is staying at Holiday Inn Family Suites, which is off site. I think she's paying $120 per night, and she could fit 6 in, but only one bathroom. Also, two people would have to sleep on a sofa bed in that type of arrangement. Now, if you were interested in renting DVC points a 2 bedroom would start at $220 a night(Old Key West, cheapest season, and Sun - Thurs stay to $600 per night, VWL or BCV highest season on a Fri or Sat night). It also depends when you plan on traveling. Personally if you want to stay on site, the best option would be 2 rooms at an AS, it's ecomonical and affordable, but not fancy.

ONe more thing, if you intend to stay off-site, you'd have to SERIOUSLY consider a rental vehicle. Most off site shuttles, with the exception of the DTD hotels, only run every half hour or sometimes only once an hour. Also, a lot of them only drop off at the TTC, and then you're on your own to get to/from whichever park you intend to visit that day. If you don't intend on getting a rental car, then stay on-site, it's your best bet.

We are a family of 6 , 2 adults and 4 kids and we have done connecting rooms at the moderates and had a great time and plenty of room.

With 6, you could try the Fort Wilderness Cabins. We fit 6 adults in there comfortably last year. There is a separate bedroom with the bunk beds and double bed in it so that some people could sleep even if others were up and about in the living room. Plus there is a full kitchen to help save on some money!
