Reservations at two resorts?

Hi,

We are trying to decide which resort to stay at for our Nov 06 trip. Can I book reservations at two resorts and then cancel later. I want to see the best rate I can get over the next year. (We're trying to decide between two rooms at the POP vs. a good deal on one room at WL or Contemporary)

From what I understand Disney has been cancelling reservations when there are two in the same name. So you think you have two rooms reserved and you may wind up with none. Someone else can probably confirm this. Some think it's not right when you hold two rooms because it means someone else may not be able to get one.

No two in same name at a WDW resort.
We have one at the WL and one at the Dolphin (Starwood owned).

Best rate wins where we stay

You can't have 2 reservations at 2 different WDW resort during the same period. WDW may cancel one of them or both.

What if you have paid your deposit? can they cancel you if they took your money?

There was a post on here not too long ago about this subject. A man was extremely upset because Disney had cancelled his reservation at the Yacht Club without letting him know. His daughter was undecided if she wanted to come, so he had booked, I believe, a studio and a one bedroom until she made her mind up. Disney's computer caught it and cancelled one. He had apparently paid a deposit on both and so was upset that they didn't bother to call him to let him decide which one had to be cancelled. The computer just randomly chose one and cancelled it.

In the thread there were other people posting that the same thing had happened to them. There was also people posting that they agreed that people should not be trying to hold up rooms, when there were other people who knew what they wanted and were unable to get those rooms.
