Reservation Website

I find it very strange that for a couple of years now, you can book a value resort WITH a dining plan for less $$$ than a campsite. The major maintenance with a campsite is washing it off after the site is vacated. They don't have to have a mousekeeper come to the site every day to clean, leave fresh towels, and vacuum, yet a site costs more $$? Sheesh, the only free soap you'll get with a site is the frankensoap left in the showers by other campers. You get access to free ice at a resort, but you have to pay LOTS of $$ for less than a pound of ice at the Fort.

Fort Fiends are doomed.

MNSPRK - a question - do you qualify for either Florida resident or annual passholder rates? Just curious. TIA!

Nope, I'm in Ohio and don't buy AP.. After I saw the original post, just for curiosity, I got on line and all 4 levels were available 4/21-4/28, tried again several hours later same result..No issue in trying to get a site on any level.

Never had any issues in getting value or moderate "resort" ressies in the past either. Already have our ressies for WL in Dec and the FORT end of Jan and Feb.

My only problem has been trying to get AAA at the FORT..but we're going with or without it.

As I said I really feel it is a computer glitch, or overload issue..:confused3 and I personally find it hard to believe there is a "deep dark conspiracy" going on to block sites. JMO

Just tried May 9-15..again all 4 are available..Site only no tickets or dining. I don't log in when I try however..

ok, you just got in because they unlocked all the sites for those dates recently then because i checked three days ago and nothing was available....

blocked, unblocked...it is all up to the mouse and what they will let you book and not

I can understand how you might think this is a glitch - but it's been going on since the renno's were completed in 2008. We go to the Fort about once a month, and I can NOT get anything other than premium or preferred. I just tried again and got the same result. But then again, I'm registered as a Fla Resident and AP holder. That might be the difference.

To get the AAA discount, call CRO the day after you get your ressie and tell them you're a AAA member & ask if you can get a better rate. If not - call your AAA office and have them try to make the ressie for you. Also - if you make your ressie thru AAA, ask for the AAA Diamond Parking Pass. It gets you special parking next to the handicapped parking at the theme parks.

I'm glad you were able to get the loop you wanted.

I already have a site booked for 5/13 thru 5/16. It's a preferred site - and I called about 5:30 to downgrade - as I've done every day. I also have a travel agent watching for me. Nope - no full hook-up. BUT - thank you for telling me you are able to get a full hook-up online. I now have some ammo!! I'll give CRO a few more days of telling me "no" before I call the actual manager at the Fort. This just plain stinks, to me.

I was told today by my friends at group reservations!!! that once when she had a problem with a group wanting to book the ft and they were complaining about the prices (the group rates, as I was) that her director told them she could give them a cheeper rate at one of the hotels. Like I said before they just don't get it< I have been offered oh we can get you into a hotel WHY WOULD I HAVE A MOTORHOME!!!!! The rep I am dealing with understands what we are saying and is trying to get them to listen but she is the little wheel trying to turn the big one, not working.

Just like the Government...Too da-- big!

I think Lorna needs to call back and get the director on the phone and tell her that we will take the hotel room that will fit our motorhome in it!:lmao:

I'm wondering if this is unique to the campground. I was trying to get resevations on line in one of the resorts with an AP rate. I could get a great discounted rate if I booked four nights..but not for three nights. :sad2:
Obviously it's available..but only if I would book it for the longer stay.
I was tempted to do so, and then take a day off, as I've heard others here say they've done that with the camp site reservations.

I wonder if it has something to do with your registering on the website, and the AP discount, that availability somehow appears to be limited, when it's not.

Bobby says Deb is on the VIP list and as such, only preferred or premium sites will come up as available when she logs in.

Well we should conduct a coordinated test. At a specified time, at least two of us (Deb, and someone NOT registered on the Disney website) should conduct identical campsite searches. It would be interesting to see if the un-registered computer is offered something different. Deb could just log out, but Disney would still recognize her IP address. Like the government, they know EVERYTHING.

I'm registered as an AP holder, so my computer won't work. Although I could participate and see if I come up with similar results to Deb's.

Anyone interested in the test?

Deb-

First, let me congratulate you on some very good detective work. You picked up on the fact that something was going on this past weekend at the Fort regarding the full hook up loops. By Sunday night, there were only two or three campers on the 1700 loop (the folks with the fiberglass Mickey ears on their golf cart, and a couple of sites near them). The 1900 loop was totally empty- not a single camper. The 1800 loop had only two campers on it (again, it was the long-term campers who camp on the site next to the sidewalk to the comfort station and the site next to them). The 1600 loop was full, and appeared to be operating normally.

So, clearly, the Fort management was intentionally keeping folks off of the the 1700, 1800 and 1900 loops.

But this was not shenanigans.

On Monday morning, there was an army of workers on the 1900 loop.

Why?

The last unconverted comfort station is about to be history:

And there were a few other things going on at the full hook up loops, too. I will post the details in my soon to commence trip report. Please stand by.

So good job on the amateur detective work, but it takes TCD to sort these things out.

Disney's offers lately have been one discount level for 3 nights or less and a better discount level for 4 nights or more.

TCD - you ARE the man!! (I still wouldn't put it past FtW management to force people into the higher priced sites, though) If this is the reason I have to get a preferred site for my May weekend, I'll accept that. It has been a while since the 2 comfort stations in 1600-1900 had a make-over. I wonder if 1500 comfort station is in sight for a reno?

The 1500 loop CS has already been renovated, I think they did that one about a year or so ago.
