Reservation revision question

I am making plans for a trip next May and at this point I'm not sure if I'll be able to stay 4 nights or 5. So, my plans are to make reservations for the 5 nights and drop 1 if necessary. My question is "Am I taking a risk of losing my entire reservation by doing this?" I have heard some horror stories about people losing their entire reservation by trying to amend. Can MS just drop a day off my reservation or do they have to cancel the reservation and rebook? The room I am booking is a high demand room and I'm worried that if they have to cancel, it might be lost before it can be rebooked.

I've booked BLT standard view three times and each time I've dropped a day or two from the beginning without issues... but I get nervous every time.

Thanks for the response...I went ahead and booked (BWV Std). I'm hoping that I won't have a problem if I have to drop a day. (Actually I'm really hoping I don't have to drop at all...)

I booked VGC for September Friday to Friday. I dropped Friday and changed it to Saturday to Friday, no problem. Then a friend booked Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, so I dropped those nights from my reservation and linked them. No problem at all.

You can drop from the beginning or the end but not in the middle without having to rebook. Currently you have to call MS to do this, maybe online someday.

Dropping the first night(s) or the last night(s) is not a problem. You will not lose your reservation.

I almost always book BWV standard for early December and for the Food & Wine Festival. Both are times of very high demand for the BWV. Occasionally, I have had to adjust either the check in date or the check out date. (I had to do it a few weeks ago for this year's F&W trip). Not once has there been a problem.

Thanks for all of the replies. That is what I was hoping to hear. Like I said, I am hoping to be able to use all 5 days, but this makes me feel much more comfortable if I have to drop the first day.
