Hi Everyone,
Quick question, any feedback is much appreciated before we sign off on re-sale.

I'm waiting ROFR on SSR resale, basically because it was a great deal.

My one concern is booking at other DVC Resorts that we may like better. Is the 7 month window usually enough to reserve at the other resorts? I know alot of this may be the time of year traveling.

Lets say we typically like to go when the parks are less busy.. January, May, October and November. Can anyone advise on past experience?

I know we can book SSR if we have to and get on a waiting list but just in general are other resorts difficult to get??? Thanks!!!

From what I have read on these boards It depends on the resort you are trying to get and the time of the year. October and November are the Food and Wine festival so BCV and BWV are almost immpossible to get. However January and May seem doable. Also remember the resort size is a huge factor, SSR, OKW and AKV (with Kidani Village) are much larger so they are easier to get. WLV and BCV are the smallest and harder to get. This is why most say to buy where you want to stay. Hope this helps.

The one piece of advice you'll hear most often on these boards is 'buy where you want to stay'. The booking advantage of your home resort IS important.

For instance, in your case, October and November. You'll likely have a good bit of difficulty getting into BCV and BWV at the 7 month window because of the Food and Wine Festival. VWL usually fills up right after the Epcot resorts for that period. So, for your Oct/Nov trips, you'll likely be staying at SSR, OKW, or AKV.

Depending on when in January you'll be visiting, that can be problematic as well, due to after-Christmas crowds and the marathon. Again, the smaller resorts (BCV, VWL, BWV) fill up first, the larger resorts like SSR, OKW and AKV are more likely to have availability.

Also consider that as DVC grows and sells more memberships, the pool of people trying to get into the resorts at 7 months is going to grow ever larger.

If you really don't care where you stay, are happy being at SSR for most of your trips, or can't make travel plans more than 7 months in advance due to work or family constraints, it doesn't matter as much. But for me, where I stay is important, and it isn't a 'deal' if I'm stuck staying at my 2nd or 3rd choice of resort most of the time, or am worrying about my waitlist coming through every time I want to take a vacation.

May will probably be the only time you can safely be assured of getting something at 7 months. That said, it all up to what is going on. Oct through early Jan is very tough to get at 7 months.

It's always suggested to buy where you won't mind staying if you can't change at 7 months out. Or if you want those GV, you need to buy at a resort that has GV.

Just make sure you understand too that you aren't guaranteed your home resort if you miss your 11 month window and you have specific dates.

Buy where you want to stay.

Disney does a great job making every month a busy month. They have added an event or discount to all slow periods and they won't stop.
