Planning our first trip for christmas time. my "180 days out" for dining reservations is coming up, and I'm afraid I'm not going to get what I want. I made my ressies with a travel agent. she said she would make the dining ressies for me,(just tell her where we want to eat) and since I was on the dining plan, would not have to reserve with credit card.

I know I need to also check the schedule for which parks are open late which days. the problem is my TA has not been great, not really un-great, but whenever I ask a question, she "has to find out" I just really don't trust her to take care of this for me. do the travel agents have priority for making dining reservations, are there seats "blocked" for them, or are they just like us, if we're calling ourself.:confused3 :confused3

They are just like us. Do yourself a favor and just do the ADRs yourself. This way if you also need to cancel or change any, you can do it automatically without having to call your TA to tell them the changes and then they call to make the changes. I really dont understand why people use TA to make their ADRs. Your adding a middle man in the picture and that middle man doesnt need to be in it. And on top of it all, while you could call at 7am on the dot, your TA can only call when they get the chance and most TA offices dont open until 9am and some either close early on sundays or arent open at all. So say you wanted to make a change on Sunday, you can call disney dining yourself instead of having to wait till sometime Monday to get your ADR. Plus, you can also call disney dining after 5pm, while most TA offices close at 5pm. I believe they take calls from 7am - 11pm, EST, but not 100% sure on that. I know I have called at around 7:45pm, EST one night and got through just fine. Doing it yourself is A LOT better. Cuz you never know. While you may wanna score a ADR for say (example) CRT for 5pm, while you could have gotten that ADR if you had called yourself, by the time your TA calls, that ADR could be long gone.

I agree with the PP 100%.I went thru AAA for my pkg and my Ta is good, BUT there was no way I was going to let her do my adrs. For one she don't work weekends. My 180 days was on a Sat, and she didn't even get into the office till 900-930 most mornings.I knew I wanted le Cellier and some other popular ones, so I did it myself.Glad I did, cause even calling at exactly 0700, I had a rough time getting Le Cellier.

Best advice! Do it yourself!!!

Unless your travel agent only deals with Disney vacations and nothing else, he's not going to be an expert. And he doesn't spend time on the boards like we all do. He can't. He's planning other trips for other people all day long. He doesn't really even think about you until he has to. If you have your resort and package booked, you are filed away for now. He probably has a note to pull out your file today and make your dining reservations. He'll do that and then you get filed away again until you call him.
