Reservation Question - Need Advice

I am taking my ds15 and my niece (also 15) back to Disney in August 2008. We would like to book the CR, but we just set our dates, so I was hoping the package rates would be out by now. Since that didn't happen, should I make a room only reservation and switch it to a package when the rates come out?

The other hitch in this, is I always book through AAA (had a great agent there, but she just retired 2 days ago). So, do I have new AAA agent book room only and then change it later, I figure if I make the room reservation, then I won't be able to use AAA later.

Forgot one other detail, we want a Tower MK view room if that changes anything in how soon I need to make a reservation. It's hard to believe it is 13 months away and I am this worried about it already. I must be truly Disney obsessed!
