Hi,
I made a reervation last October for YC 5/28-601. My sister and I I are going alone. We've taken kids and G-kids and wanted to just have a trip of our own. My rate, incl dreamaker pkg was $2595. I called last week with a code and was happy to get a reduction $2269. I called today about the deposit only to find my original reservation had been cancelled but the new one wasn't in the system. Not only that,in rebooking the reservation would now be $2895. A CM interceded and got me a rate of $2495, but not for the room I had originally booked. I am so upset about this. The CM who made the reservation for the cheaper rate was so helpful and efficient - how could this happen?

What type of room did you have booked? They should be able to tell which CM you talked to when you received the $2269 rate. I was talking to CRO last week about something and they knew when I called in just to check on a rate.

Call back, talk to a supervisor.

Was your original package through CRO or WDTC?

I would insist on getting the lower rate you were quoted in a nice way. They are usually very helpful and it should be evident in their system who caused the mix up.

Are you able to get a cheaper package with the codes that are out now?

Let us know what happens. I'm sure someone here has the proper phone numbers to call if you can't get anywhere with CRO.

Didn't you get a confirmation sheet? I would think this would've helped you.

Wow, not to be an alarmist, but those figures you quoted seem pretty high for 2 people. Have you tried pricing rooms, tickets, meals, etc. seperately? For example, I'm taking my family of 4 to Disney for 5 days for less than $1,800.00 in 3 weeks. This includes a room at the Dolphin, park hoppers and airfare (no meals). From what I've read on these boards, packages almost never seem to be a very good deal. I guess October being peak season at YC may explain the high cost. Whatever you do, you'll have fun!

Hi
Thanks for the replies. Going in May which is the regular season.

I am hoping against hope that the confirmation of the cheaper reservation will arrive. It should come in the next day or so, if not, the CM told me that the person who made the reservation just could have clicked cancel rather than return and that will be that!

This is the thing that makes me so angry about Disney - the price changes. Why not just quote a reasonable, fixed rate and stick to it. All this foolishness about watching for codes and upgrades makes me sick. No decent company does business this way.

As for the credit card to replace DC. Have you read that thing?
some "perks".

What's next loan sharking.

I do not know what is going on with WDW Travel. I made my reservations 6 weeks ago for May, and got a fax confirmation. I was speaking to the concierge vacation planner last week and I asked her to confirm my room (again). They had the room completely wrong, even after I had confirmed it many times before and it appeared to be correct. I also had to pay and additional $112.00 (I already have the vacation paid in full) for that room (which I thought I had in the first place). I was a little pissed off to say the least. I am hoping that it is straightened out now, but I will call this week to confirm again! There must be some kind of problem with their computer system!

Ok When you made the reservation in October they would have required a deposit. I think it is within 7 days on a package (maybe more or less) So... did you make the deposit. That should give you an audit trail on the fact that it was not cancelled. If you did not make the deposit, that could be why it was cancelled.

Do you have the original confirmation from October? Or a cancelled check, credit card receipt from the deposit? They should be able to track your original reservation and then go back and apply the code once again and then you will end up with the cheaper price.

Why not just quote a reasonable, fixed rate and stick to it.

They offer codes and discounts as incentives when attendance isn't what they want it to be. When it is, you get rack rates. I know waiting for discounts and making changes is a pain, but I'll gladly do it if it saves me some $$$'s.

"When you made the reservation in October they would have required a deposit."

That's exactly what I was thinking. Also, there should be an original confirmation number along with a new confirmation number from when the discount was applied (if they cancelled the original reservation and placed a new one with the discount). It should be very easy to track both the original reservation and the change that was made to apply a discount.

Every time I have cancelled a reservation I have gotten a cancellation number and even a confirmation of the cancellation via mail. Perhaps another call is in order with the orig # and you can work from there?? Good luck

Hi
Did pay 632.70 as deposit and had slip. The CM just cancelled the whole thing and left me in a lurch. The deposit is refunded.

However there is a resolution,I received a new confirmation yesterday, but the name was so mangled, that's why it couldn't be traced, when i phoned. Not a happy ending though, the rate on the confirmation was lower than the phone quote and the room view had been changed in spite of my repeated requests to leave it alone and forego the pkg if necessary. A CM fixed the reservation for me and I'm now paying $2437 for 5/28-6/01 concierge and dreamaker pkg. Wouldn't dare to change it again for all the codes in the world.

Can anyone think of any resort in the world that operates this way?Why not just charge a fair price in the first place and attendance won't be slipping so much that codes are needed.

Just a thought, but not to long ago WDW reservation system was down due to the large internet type virus/worm which slowed or shut down many systems. I know Disney reservations online and over the phone were down for at least a day or so. I also made my original reservation in October 2002 for May 2003 as did my sister. When we both called to use the discount code, both of our reservations were slightly messed up. My reservation was there, but nothing was listed that I requested, all gone but no big deal as that was easy to fix this far in advance. My sister's dates were not correct and it was a good thing she had called to request the code change or she would of never known. She had the reservation sheet from October, along with proof of deposit, if there had been a problem. I don't know if the down system had anything to do with it, but I have lost a lot of confidence in reservations. I guess I'm not alone...

This is one of the reasons that we use a travel agent that is very very knowledable in Disney destinations. When I used to the reservations myself, there were problems. Not all of the time but enough that I got fed up. Now I never have a problem.

Honestly, most resorts I've dealt with deal this way. It's very common to offer incentives when attendence is low. If you are looking for examples, Sandals resorts are offering a discount right now. I think since there is such a great network for disney, we find out about all the deals and this can be overwhelming. For the most part, it's hard to find out about discounts for other resorts so it may seam like they don't exists. Just a thought.
