Crazy to book an extra night in middle of reservation?

Is it crazy? No. But I would probably only use distressed points to do it. And even then, in this particular case, it's a hard sell. It would be easier if e.g. you were staying somehwere other than MK-area, and wanted a close-by bed for a late night in MK.

Yes, I would do it. We did a tour last October while we were in a longhouse for 3 nights. Loved it! Enjoy!

We have an Interval International 6 night at Hilton Grand Beach 3BR in Oct 2026 prior to moving to OKW 1 BR. We decided we will book that last night at OKW as well so we have a less stressful moving day. It is a waste of points, but it works for us! Perhaps, at 7 months we can get Poly for the 8 nights we plan at OKW? I have counted and recounted points to ensure we can do both!

I am of the mind to take opportunity when you find it... There is crazy and there is DVC kind of crazy! :rolleyes1

I would have done it! But don't listen to me, I'm coming off a one night stay in the tower last Friday and still in the Disney bubble on a Disney high.

As a Poly guest you can visit the viewing areas [oops, that takes a PIT key card/MB], the lobby, the pool, the restaurant, etc. already. But getting inside a room and staying a night? Worth it. It might be my favorite DVC room I've ever stayed in.

Yeah?? So it's really worth it not just a FOMO/shiny new thing type desire?

I thought you had to be a PIT guest to visit the viewing areas, the OG Poly guests are not allowed. I'll be at the Poly in September on points, but I did not think Poly guests were allowed in the Tower viewing areas. I know they are not locked, but thought the elevator access is restricted to PIT guests.

That's what I was told too, PIT only

Oh my bad, yeah you do have to scan your key card on the elevator- I just thought I'd read longhouse guests could get in but I must be mistaken!

Well I meant if it were my first chance to try the tower, absolutely it'd be worth it precisely for the FOMO/shiny thing desire.

Now that I've been once, would I spend 16-20 points to do it again in the middle of another reservation? Yes, I would! The room was incredible, loved everything about it. It sounds silly but I was shocked at the silverware and dishware being in a tower studio. Sitting over here in SSR still happy as a clam but staring at my plastic wrapped paper plates does make me wish I were back in the PIT.

If you have extra points, it's not that crazy especially if you have a big bank of points, 20 is nothing 😆 I have less than 300 points all together, so to me 20 pts is like gold! I wouldn't be able to do it! 😂
So you gonna jump on it if that one night comes back?🤭

We have 710 points and I still wouldn't do it! I think I just learned from this thread that I'm a points Miser though!

But honestly, we stayed in the PIT in February and I still wouldn't recommend wasting points in the middle of a trip just to experience it. It's fine, it's really kind of nice and I wouldn't hesitate to book here again but not when I already have a perfectly nice room nearby. And frankly, we preferred the fireworks from the beach as opposed to the viewing area look-outs because unless you have a seat at the front of those the view from up there is not good.

We’ve done it a few times for various reasons. The last one I did was SuperBowl Sunday this year. I had an 8 day reservation at AK Jambo and waitlisted a single night in a concierge studio room for that day. The waitlist came through, so the 3 of us were able to enjoy the lounge for a day, but traverse back up to our real room. They were points well spent and we enjoyed a lovely SuperBowl Sunday at Disney.

Well it may be a moot point because the room isn't there now and the closer we get to our trip the more hesitant I become to screw anything up. I actually love the longhouses and the double shower/bathrooms. I also really love being closer to the TTC. And I know I'll stare at the tower and keep checking the booking calendar more often than the MDE app but for now I'm staying put!

PS I have about 450 points but they're all basically tied up until next April so this would be points I'd rather not waste anyway. But it's so much easier to spend "points" on a room rather than cash. I know if I could get the room for $400 (20x20) I would balk at the idea. But you know...it's just points aka funny money!

It's not a moot point really though, because the next time this happens you will now know to immediately grab that room and enjoy those points like they were meant to be enjoyed!
