Hello everyone,

Tonight, I have a speculative question for discussion. When general reservations began for Disney's Polynesian Villas and Bungalows, the resort availability tool seemed to suggest that many members were modifying their existing reservations at Bay Lake Tower. While others were trying to get into PVB, we were exploring other resort options and noticed a standard view studio at Bay Lake Tower had come available for the first two weeks of May.

Once general reservations begin, which resort(s) do you think will experience the most reservation modifications?

Best,

The number one will be Boulder Ridge/Original Wilderness Lodge for sure. You've already got people who own there and love it. It's not a stretch to think they would want to check out the new units in their own "neighborhood" so to speak.

Absolutely will be interested in staying at Copper Creek, and will try to change for whichever is my first reservation when CC becomes available!

We would jump over from our AKL reservation if it were open by our next trip. Is there a planned opening date?

I would second what TexasChick said.

Boulder Creek seems to have decent availability, so it would seem that there are plenty of opportunities to switch to it.
While Copper creek will have the whole newness appeal, it is still in the same ball park as Boulder Creek, and if people are not switching in to BC, then there is not that much more reason to switch into CC. I am staying at BC in December - if i can switch to CC at some point, I probably will, just because it is new.

I would suspect the degree of interest to change a reservation to CCV from one a member has at other resorts will be pretty much evenly distributed among members of all resorts as a whole except that a higher percentage of those who already have BRV reservations may want to switch. Having seen a standard view studio open at BLT for two weeks when Poly became available does not really incdicate that the percentage of BLT owners who wanted to switch to Poly was higher than the percentage of owners at other resorts. At best, it simply established that a small number of members, which could have been as low as two, with a standard room reservation at BLT, decided to switch to Poly.

The CCV rooms might actually generate more immediate interest to switch from other resorts than as happened with Poly if, as it appears will be the case, the points required per night will be the same or very close to the current BRV, and thus in "bargain" territory in comparison to Poly, and it will have not just studios but also 1BR and 2BR villas.

So I was just checking the availability calendar and there is nothing for the beginning of December for Boulder Ridge. Do you think that all of the rooms would be open, both the Villas and the main building and that there really is no availability. I do not own there, so I would be a 7 month booker.

I'm not sure I understand what you're asking, but CCV is not able to be booked yet for any time period and when it does come online we won't know how many of the rooms will be available to book and how much time they will give new CCV owners to book prior to opening it up to the other DVC members. The availability that you see for VWL/BRV using the availability tool is limited because from the last part of November through December is one of the most sought after times to stay at VWL/BRV due to the popularity of the holiday decorations. I'm not surprised that there is no availability for early December. Now, I do suspect that, if possible, some of those folks that have reserved VWL/BRV may try to switch over to the new CCV rooms if they are inside 7 months and are able to secure what they are looking for. I hope that answers your question.

Friendlyadvice2, thank you very much. I was confused about the two different names. Hoping to get somewhere at WL in December. Was hoping with all the new wing of the old WL being turned into DVC, that we may have a shot to get there. :-)

When booking for CCV opens for non-owners, if the dates are compatible we'll probably try to swap the last half of our early December BWV week for CCV. I'd rather stay there than BRV, to check out the new decor and fixtures. However, if it opens up more BRV villas, that would work too - we've been wanting to stay at BRV over the holidays!

The Disney Parks Blog was referring to the Boulder Ridge Cove Pool, next to BRV (VWL).

I said hinted because it is reasonable to assume that the grand opening of the new pool area will coincide with the opening of the cabins and villas.

If you don't own at BRV (WLV), your chances of getting a room in early December are slim.

They won't open up all the villas at once. They will only open a small portion until more are sold. And some might not be completed when the resort opens.

That will not stop Disney Vacation Club from having a ribbon cutting ceremony with classic Disney characters standing alongside their executives!

They most likely won't declare all of the villas into the condominium right away, but I'm reasonably certain that they will all be finished about the same time. The potion of the villas that aren't declared will be given to DRC/CRO for nightly rental to the general public. Revenue from that will go to the Developer.

I was one looking to switch my BRV reservation over to CCV in October. Now that I've seen the room layouts and decor, NOT switching. Staying with my VWL1 ressie.
