Reservation for too many people?

I have all my ADR's done for our May 9-17 trip. One day we will be meeting up with friends who live in the area, and I made ressies for Rainforest Cafe in DTD for 6 (3 of us, my friend, her daughter and her husband). The possible problem is that we are not 100% sure yet if we will be meeting for lunch, or if we will be meeting up after my family eats. I added them to our ressie just in case, and will know closer to our travel date whether they will be joining us or not.

I do plan on calling and changing our reservation as soon as we have final details (it depends on her husband's work schedule). Is this going to cause a problem w/ our reservation, or will they easily be able to switch us from 6 to 3 people? I originally had 2 reservations (one for 3, one for 6), but I canceled the one because I felt guilty about double booking :sad1:

I would leave it like it is and if they decide not to go and you CAN rebook under the correct # of guests I would.

If you can't rebook it for 3 instead of 6 I would leave it and just go. It won't be a problem showing up 3 less.
People get sick, or can't show up all the time. It won't interfere with your adr.

Now if you are going to a meal like CRT, it is a different story. But a ressie with no CC hold...you are fine.

Have a good trip!!

Thanks! I guess I will call (if needed) when we figure out our exact number and see if I can change it w/ out hassle, and if not I'll just leave it.
I was just concerned that if we showed up w/ 3 less people, they would make us wait a long time for a smaller table. I also don't want to be greedy and hold up a reservation that someone else could use for their own party!
Hopefully my friends will be able to do lunch and it won't even be an issue! Thanks again.

Rainforest Cafe only releases a portion of their tables to Disney Dining so it's one of the easier places to change reservations. You can call the restaurant directly (I don't know the phone #, but you can google it) and make a reservation for the exact number of people.

I had to do this in June...I didn't know who was coming 180 days out so I made all of our ressies for 7. One night we had 7...every other night we had less. I couldn't change them for the same times so I just changed at the podium...they never gave me a hard time or acted like it was an inconvenience, just said ok and put our new number in the computer.

DHs friend is joining us for part of our 2 week trip this September. We just don't know exactly when or for how long. I just made all our reservations to include him and if we show up with one less (6 instead of 7) I'm not worried. I did NOT include him in our CRT reservation, but if he's there for that meal we'll just let him sleep in and join us at park opening.

It's far easier to accommodate a party of (slightly) fewer people than requested than it is to accommodate a party larger (even by 1 person) than requested. While at most Disney places, 3 may be a bit close to pushing it, at RFC, TRex, and the like, you'll be fine.
