Reservation downgraded at Pop? How did THAT happen?!

Just a reminder that posting CM's names is not allowed. Thank you for your cooperation.

Not speaking of Disney -- I have found with that demanding behavior generally brings rudeness in return. Usually if someone is demanding and then even increases that, the person on the other end totally ignores the demader, or may give them whatever just to be rid of them. There is a difference between assertive and aggressive.
As someone pointed out no one knows the conversation that took place at the rebooking. I know if it were me I would have been so excited over free dining that is all I would have heard. :lmao: (Not to say that is what happened to the OP.)
It appears it will work out for well. (ehem.. free dining and save $100 too. )
And it appears the CM is doing what can be done.
This all may be a blessing in disguise (and a lesson learned for OP and others too).
To the OP, thanks for the follow ups! :thumbsup2 I hope you have a magical vacation! :wizard:

If anything, what does seem to be lacking is the confirmation documents of the rebooking. You would think guests would receive a whole new confirmation with details.

Doesn't sound like a bad ending! I'd take the standard room and save the money...use it towards souveniers! I've been to Pop 3 times, never once in a preferred room, and never felt like I had a long haul to anything. My walk from the 80's was a little longer, but nothing that inconvinienced me.

You sound OK with the outcome...which is good! I hope you have a great time!

Unless Disney has documentation (such as a recorded phone call) that the OP was told she still had a preferred room when she switched to free dining there is no way to know whether the OP was told the res was changed to a standard room because of availability and just didn't register it, whether she was told and decided the free dining was worth changing room categories and subsequently forgot that she agreed to the change or whether the CM who changed the reservation simply didn't mention the room category when they went over the changes made during the call.
We suspect that's exactly what happened. I doubt that hubby "forgot" they mentioned a room change but it's possible and more then possible given the volume of calls that would have been coming in that morning that it was overlooked. Let it be a lesson....

Sorry about that...he was doing a great job as was the second CM we spoke to, it was just the first, who's name I didn't get that was not so helpful;not rude but just of no help.

I totally agree, having myself been in a customer service position before. Which is why it urked me that the first CM kept saying he didn't know what to tell me instead of offering to pass me on. When I talked to the supervisor myself last night I told him that we weren't upset about it, just wanted to be sure that we were actually paying the right rate and that I was disappointed but glad we caught it before check-in. It really does seem odd to me though that each any every invoice you get from them WOULDN'T itemize what you had booked. It did list tickets, dining etc; everything BUT the type of room.

We had a standard room in building four facing the lake and it was great. about 4 rooms in from the main pool but far enough so you could not hear the noise. Great location and i loved it. also got to do my walking along the lake and around the resort to try to keep in shape. enjoy.

Understood that any discount promotion has limited rooms, but it is possible that it is WDW's fault. It is possible that Preferred was available and the CM accidentally selected Standard, or perhaps only Standard was available but the CM failed to mention that there would be a difference in room category. And the fact that WDW has $100 more than they should have for this package indicates that it is a problem that WDW needs to resolve. And I am confident they will. Most of these stories end up with a positive outcome. :thumbsup2

Believe me if the "more" expensive room had been available at the time the OP switched to Free Dining, Disney would have gladly taken her money.

As Rusty said, I would bet that preferred with free dining was not available, however that should have been communicated to the OP at the time of the booking. Something to the effect you can have free dining, or you can have preferred but not both.

Many times thought especially when trying to book something like free dining it is very chaotic.

Sounds like Disney is taking care of the situation in an appropriate manner.
