Reservation at 11 month window

We are planning a family Christmas vacation at WDW in 2010 and want to stay at my home resort (VWL) for Dec 21-27. This is a harder time to get a 2 bedroom unit than most times but if I phone at the 11 month date I should be allright. A small problem is that I will be on a cruise and island vacation from Jan 20 thru Feb 3'rd. Is it possible to contact Disney member services and get permission for my son to phone in and do the reserving or should I just give him my membership number along with all the other information that they ask for and have him identify himself as me

jmho I wouldn't misrepresent with MS. In order for your son to make the reservation he'd need to be listed as an associate on your membership which I believe is relatively simple for you to authorize.

I agree. Call Member Administration (option 2 on the DVC 800 number) and ask to have your son added as an associate member. It officially allows him to call Member Services to make or change reservations.

The associate member status was designed for this exact situation. It doesn't include any other benefits. It just gives the person access to call Member Services.

When you're back, if you like, you can have him removed from that status.

Another option would be to use the web site to send a booking request email. Of course, there's no guarantee they'll work the request right on the 11 month day. (In fact, there's an excellent chance they will not.)
