The response you got is pretty standard from DVC. DVC is a strange arm of Disney. Our dues cover operations. It operates at capacity. You own it. So they screw up, and it is still sort of your problem. Rooms get picked up really fast by people stalking the waitlist, so in order to rectify it, they'd have to kick someone else out of their room, they aren't going to do that since that would make another customer unhappy (you are already unhappy.)
Over the years, customer service at Disney has become less magical - but its never BEEN magical with DVC.
