Curious if you are allowed to use a cc for the payment if you buy a resale? Or does it have to be check/money order. I think it would be nice to use the Disney Visa to get the reward points and then pay it off. Anyone else do this or know if you can? Thanks.....

Most resale brokers don't except CCs because they have to pay to process the transaction.

Bill nailed it. That 2.5%-3% is significant on $5,000, $10,000 and $20,000 transactions.

Yeah I didn't even think about that. Would be good for us but not them.

Plus, I don't know Florida law at all, but query whether there are "issues" associated with purchasing an interest like DVC with a credit card. Believe me, given the 1% reward, I was like you and asked the same question, too, and was given the same answer: certified check/wire only.

The Timeshare Store, Inc.® actually uses a separate closing company to handle the funds in escrow. You are correct though as most closing companies don't except CCs because they have to pay to process the transaction. Magic Vacation Title and Timeshare Title and More will accept up to $1,000 on a credit card but not the entire purchase.

If as a buyer you find a closing company that will let a buyer use a credit card for the entire purchase The Timeshare Store, Inc.® would be willing to use them for your purchase provided they are familiar with closing the Disney Vacation Club purchase.

There is no law that prevents it but the transaction fee generally does prevent it unless the broker were to add the transaction fee to the price you pay so that you pay it rather than it or the seller.

There should be no issues, you can pay for your DVC interest with a credit card at Disney direct. It all comes down to what was mentioned before, resale contracts are handled differently and most companies are not willing to absorb credit card fees in the resale transaction.

Good to know. Thanks for the clarification...

Some will accept a CC for the deposit, I'm not aware of any resale that will allow it directly for the entire amount. DVC will do so and those that accept paypal will be default, accept a CC. I paid $10K through paypal for an ebay Marriott resale last year.

I am awaiting ROFR with a contract through ********** and asked the same question for the same reason as you...answer of course was no....
