Resale Purchase Time - In Process

I am buying my very first resale contract to add to my existing DVC membership!
Yes, a bad case of addonitis hit me last week.


I know people question how long it takes so I thought I would chronicle my experience as it happens, for your viewing pleasure.

Here is my time sequence so far with The Timeshare Store.
- Documented anticipated closing date is 7/28/09. All times are ET.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
6/2/09 - AM / Offer tendered via email to TSS.

6/2/09 - 3:31 pm / TSS emailed that offer was accepted by the seller.

6/2/09 - 5:38 pm / TSS emailed agreement documents and deposit instructions (due by 6/9/09).

6/4/09 - Deposit and signed agreements mailed FedEx (3-day service cuz I'm cheap)

6/9/09 - 9:03 am / FedEx delivered package to TSS office.

6/9/09 - 12:48 pm / TSS emailed deposit was received and being forwarded to escrow company.

6/9/09 - 1:47 pm / TSS emailed that all documents have been sent to Disney for ROFR.

6/10/09 - PM / Received email from escrow company confirming deposit receipt and confirming contract information.

7/6/09 - 4:47 pm / TSS emailed that Disney waived their ROFR.

7/7/09 - 9:13 am / Received email from escrow company with closing documents.

7/4/09 - Final payment and signed closing documents mailed FedEx (3-day service cuz I'm still cheap)

7/10/09 - 8:47 am / FedEx delivered package to escrow office.

7/10/09 - 10:07 am / Received email from escrow company that they are now waiting for sellers' documents.

7/22/09 - 9:11 am / I emailed escrow company for update on closing status.

7/22/09 - 10:37 am / Received response from escrow company that seller's documents were received and my file was closed this morning.

7/22/09 - 11:02 am / Escrow company replied that paperwork was sent to Disney this morning and that deed will go to the county for recording.

7/25/09 - The new resale contract showed up as part of my DVC membership account.
(same master contract as my AKV contracts)

7/25/09 - Received copy of the deed from esrow company in the mail.



Total of 7 weeks and it's all but official on the county records now! I'd say I can enjoy an official "welcome home" now!

Every transaction also depends on how quickly buyer and seller react so some timelines may vary. we are using the timeshare store too. They are so fast!!

I have a question. We have a current contract at vakl, we are in process of getting one at BWV. In our original deed, it was listed me then hubby.

The escrow has my hubby then me listed. Don't i need to have these identicle so, i end up with just one member number, (they are also the same use year).

I'm plannng on calling tomarrow, but figured others here would know too.

Angie does a great job and I will be sure she gets the message. Sometimes those "behind the scenes" don't get the proper recognition. She plays a big part in making the entire process run smoothly (as well as Yamilin/Leslie/Katherine and Marian).

Well, I thought the time frame waiting for ROFR was a bit long compared to what I had been reading around here but what can you do?

I just can't wait until I see those points in my account! Then I know it's official and can update my sig!!!!

We are also using Timeshare Store. Here's our timeline:
7/10/09: Saw new listing, made offer, received documents
7/13/09: Submitted to Disney for ROFR process
7/14/09: Rec'd e-mail from escrow company

Just put an offer in today (7/21) so I am following along with your timeline to see how it goes. I am hoping for 6-8 weeks, but I guess it depends on how all the pieces fall together. My DH keeps telling me I am not a very patient person and that is so true.

8/28 Well that didn't work. Disney exercised ROFR so we are starting over with another contract.

7/13 pm offer accepted, received contract agreement
7/14 pm sent deposit to ***, signed agreement sent to TTS
7/15 pm offer sent to disney for ROFR
7/16 pm received Escrow letters
7/16 pm *** receives deposit
7/21 am faxed signed escrow letter to ***

now the waiting really begins
