Resale purchase from owner question

I know someone is planning on selling his membership to BWV. He has not yet signed with a resale company. If I buy directly from him, how would I go about doing this. I know that we would still have to go throught Disney's ROFR. Would we just contact member services or would we just go through a land title lawyer? Also, what would you recommend price per point should by to avoid ROFR? He currently has an August use year with all 150 pts available for 2006 and has 75 pts banked from 2005. You can do it yourself or engage a closing company to assist you. They will handle the title, escrow, ROFR and the like. Try Timeshare Closing Services.

i closed earlier this year on a resale contract... and everything was great UNTIL Timeshare Closing Services got involved...

i know that many other people have a had NO problem, and I am probably the exception to prove the rule, but they will NEVER get my business again.

you may even want to call a broker and offer a "reduced fee" since you are bringing the buyer/ seller... basically, pay them to "process the paper."

We bought through a private sale. It was very easy on our part. The seller really wanted to sell and she took care of obtaining a lawyer and all of that.

We just had to follow up with Member Services.

We bought our first contract through a private party. The owners just typed up a letter stating the terms of the sale that included all the info. regarding points available, price per point, division of maint. fee costs, and who would be paying closing fees. They signed it and then sent it to us for our signatures. It was then faxed to DVC for ROFR. The owners had already contacted a local title office to handle the rest of the transaction, including handling the monetary portion. It was really very simple.
