Resale - Options for 2010 points?

If I purchase a resale contract with 2010 points available, what are my options with those points? I am past the banking window, so is my only option to use the points? My concern is that the contract won’t close until September and DVC is pretty full through Dec., so the points may just expire. If that is the case, then there is no sense buying a contract with 2010 points available – correct?

When you purchase a contract with points on it, DVC will often let you go ahead and bank them even if you are past the banking deadline. But you can't be guaranteed that will happen. Ask the reselling agent you are working with if they can ask DVC about that before you sign on the dotted line.

But if they are banked already and will expire at the end of the UY, they will expire at the end of the UY.

One option is to have the seller call and have them banked as a condition of the sale. I am assuming they are Dec UY points. Banking deadline was just a few days ago so Disney may not give the current owner a problem in doing it a few days late.
