My DH and I are annual WDW vacationers who vowed if Disney built villas at the GF (our favorite resort) we'd buy DVC.

Now, we're deciding what would make more sense:
  1. Pay cash for resale knowing we may not stay at the GFV often (which is ok but not ideal)
  2. Buy direct when GFV becomes available knowing we'd likely finance at least part

We are open to staying at other resorts so I'm not sure if buying direct makes sense financially for a 4 month booking advantage.

I realize we're a ways out from buying GFV, however I want to be ready to make an educated decision when the time comes.

it's a personal decision.

#1 costs less, but might not get you what you want.
#2 costs more, but if you book at 11 months out, things will generally tend to work out more smoothly.

saving money makes sense.

spending money (even if you save a bit) on something that's likely to be disappointing and stressful isn't a winner either.

Just curious, what is it about GF that makes you want to buy DVC? I'm going to assume the GF DVC is not going to be nearly as nice as the GF hotel rooms... just like Boardwalk and Beach club rooms versus the villas. But they do share things like the pool and overall decor, among other things.

You can always try renting points to get into GF when it opens :)
