So then are the points you purchase retail put onto your resale account? One more questions can you have two home resorts, one from resale and one from retail and if so which on can you book at eleven months out
That's not entirely true. In the early days, they would sell even smaller add-ons. I've seen 13-point and 20-point contracts available via resale. As CMNJ says, the smallest contract Disney sold was 25 points
The mercy discount can be replicated with a Disney Visa, so I don't even think that counts as an economic benefit.
How many Cheez-Its do you hope to eat in the Epcot lounge before they close Figment and tear it down to retirement Future World entirely?
Well, yeah, but to make the discount a real economic benefit of DVC, you have to be spending $$, not just a Minnie Mouse pen.I think the Disney Visa merchandise discount is 10% for purchases >$50.

Afaik it's always been 25 point minimum for an add on. The handful of smaller ones likely was DVC making an exception for some particular reason to an owner - maybe misrepresentation from a sales guide or who knows what.
You will end up with two contracts in your DVC membership, your original resale contract and your new "add-on" retail contract. So then are the points you purchase retail put onto your resale account? I recall years ago someone posted that after waiting a long time for an add-on somewhere, BCV perhaps, DVC sold it to them in two pieces. If I remember correctly, the owner ended up with most of the points on one contract and the remaining 10 points on a separate contract (or maybe it was 15 points on the second one?) I always wondered if DVC would step in and take the tiny contract if the owner ever decided to sell it.Perhaps there were other exceptions.
Thank you Lisa that explains it perfectlyYou will end up with two contracts in your DVC membership, your original resale contract and your new "add-on" retail contract.
If you want to book a resort 11 months out, only home resort points are accepted as payment, meaning if you want to book BWV for example, then you must pay with BWV points. If your add-on contract is for the same resort as your original contract you can combine the points to book that resort 11 months out. If you add on at a different resort you will have two home resorts and can use the points at their respective home resorts 11 months out or you can combine them to book any resort 7 months out, subject to availability. If you want to book one of your home resorts using points from both contracts, you can book as many nights as possible using home resort points 11 months out and then try to add on additional nights using your non-home points once the 7-month window opens for those additional nights.
