If I buy a resale contract and it's the same resort and use year as my master contract, is it treated the same as if I bought from Disney, or is it considered a separate contract and I would need to transfer points between the two like I would if I owned different resorts?
Thanks!

After you purchase and close, you need to make a request that Disney combine the contracts into one account so that it will essentially be treated as an add-on. They will do that as long as resale contract is in same use year (resort need not be the same). If contract is in different use year, they will not combine them and will be treated as separate for all purposes.

The resale will also need to be titled the same. Sometimes DVC catches these and will automatically combine the contracts, but I'd take drusba's suggestion and make the request yourself.

BTW, if you own at two separate resorts (but under the same membership number - i.e. like an add-on...with both contracts titled the same), you do not need to transfer pts between the contracts. you just can't pool the pts until 7 months out.

So if I have 15 SSR points and 15 AKV points, I wouldn't have to do anything special to reserve a 30-point night once I'm inside the 7-month window? (provided I stick with the same use year?)

Correct - but it would have to be a Master & add on set up per posts above.
