So my sister must check in at the airport with Southwest, but her 2 kids are checked in. Will she be able to still check the kids bags in with them and pick up their boarding passes (they don't have IDs) at the resort even though she isn't checked in and can't until the airport.

Anyone else ever have this randomly by their name "Airport check in required"?? Will they be able to check her in at the resort since it's kind of like the airport???

She should be able to check all the bags in with the kids reservation number since each person with a ticket can have two bags. I would ask at the baggage check in area at the resort. That message comes up when a flight has been oversold - at least that is what I was told recently. They count on so many people not showing up so then oversell the flight. When they get to the airport they will be assigned a boarding position if there have been cancellations or if it is close to boarding and someone has not shown up. Since she is travelling with children she might want to call SW and see if they can do anything now rather than later.

Yes, I have had this happen a couple of times; it was always for international flights on UA where they wanted to see my passport in person. It does not necessarily mean the flight is oversold.

No, a resort is not like the airport. She will have to check in with her airline at the airport.
