Requesting to sit alone at dinner

OP on our last cruise on the Wonder, we didn't request it but we ended up getting our own 4 top table for my husband and myself. I was kind of looking forward to meeting new people but in the end we had our own table and we did enjoy yourselves very much.

Just put in a request and if they can they'll honour it.

Sailed the Dream last week and had a table for mom and myself, second seating. I had booked the cruise two weeks prior and put the request in about ten days prior. There were plenty of empty tables every night even though our server said the ship was almost full!

Have a great cruise!!

Thank you so much. You've all made me feel pretty confident that we will get a private table. Now just have to wait for September...

We have cruised DCL several times (without kids). They never seated us at a table with kids. However, we learned quickly that we didn't enjoy being seated with one other couple ... We just can't keep up comfortable conversation with a couple we don't know for a whole week! So now I always request to be seated at a large table ... We have ended up with 3 other couples and it has been great - plenty of people to carry conversation!

Do you think with a party of six, we should request a private table, or would we be seated alone regardless?
Also...do those booths at EG on fantasy accommodate 4 adults plus 2 kids, ythink? TIA!

Your chances as a party of 6 are good to excellent that you will have your own table. When we were a party of 6 we had our own table. When we were a party of 5 one time we were seated alone. However, once we were a party of 3 and they seated us with a party of 5.

If you want to be more certain of being seated alone, I'll suggest calling DCL and have the request placed on your reservation.

OP, as much as the *excellent* rating is pushed, I think you should ask the head waiter and see what he can do if you're sat with others. I'd call Disney first and tell them your reasons. My guess is that Disney doesn't want to sit guests who prefer to be alone anymore than they want to sit social folks with people that don't want to sit with them. They want everyone to have an enjoyable time. I'm very social and would have hated sitting with people who were uncomfortable. I think if you explain the situation, you'll be fine.

If, by chance, you are sailing concierge, you are pretty much guaranteed to dine alone, unless you request to sit with others.

I can second this. 3 times in concierge with late dining. 1st time I requested to be seated alone. The other 2 times we were alone at a 4 top. All three cruise were off-peak.

I see there are a few threads on requesting to sit alone for the rotational dinners. But most of these threads are about families of 4 or more and some have requests filled and others not (most did)

I am going with my Husband, we don't have any kids or anyone else in our party - just the two of us. My Hubby is extremely shy and for reasons that are my own I don't want to be seated with any kids.

Do you think we could request a table alone for just the two of us? I really want to dine in some of these restaurants especially Animator's Palate but really don't want to sit with other people.

My DH and I don't have any kids as well... We sailed on the Dream last year in May. We did not make any seating requests but we were seated with two other couples who did not have any kids with them. Coincidentally, we were all celebrating some kind of anniversary. I'm pretty sure you'll be seated with other couples because I could image requesting a table without children would be a popular request amongst couples sailing alone. But then again, this is not a guarantee.

I WISH we were going concierge! But with the cost of our trip (over $10,000) there is no way we can squeeze another cent in!
I'm sure with the late seating and september cruising date we should be OK to get a 4top for the two of us. I really appreciate all the answers and help. :cloud9:

I agree with some of the others...... go directly to the "dining questions/reservations" guy as soon as you find out where he's hiding in the Navigator! That is what I did. Ask politely for seating for 2. We had no problems..and had 1st seating during spring break!

Like you I have a very shy hubby (I'm shy as well) and was going thru Infertility troubles. Some days I'd look at the kids with a smile, others I'd just start crying instantly. All depended on the moment! So I completely understand. Going back next april for the Magic .... 6 yrs later ....and I'm sure I'll still have a mini-breakdown at some point.... but they are few and far between now.

Enjoy ..and don't forget about Quiet Cove. It can be Priceless for recovery time! ;)

highly unlikely they will give you a table just for the 2 of you.
why not ask to be seated with other adults without kids? lots of non kids couples on the cruise...
you can even ask for similar aged couples, who speak your language, etc..
we've done this 3/4 times and all of them DCL accommodated our requests..

It's not highly unlikely to get a table for just the two of them (be it an actual 2-top or a table for 4 for just the two of them). Every time we've requested a table for just the two of us, our request has always been granted. My husband and I have sailed numerous times without our girls, so I know how POSSIBLE this request is to be granted.

Just make sure you have it noted that you would like a table for just yourselves. They'll tell you they don't have tables for two per se, but will put in the request for just the two of you at a four-top. :thumbsup2

Same here ^_^ we requested a table to ourselves for our Honeymoon on the Dream in 2011. We were seated at a 4 top to ourselves. I think requesting the second seating helps too.

I can relate on several levels. First off, we had infertility trouble too. I will never forget sitting in the "husband" chairs in the walkway at the mall, my wife on major infertility drugs that have some interesting side effects.

We both were people watching, she leaned over and said "All these pregnant (insert cuss word), I wish they would just die. I hate them". Yes, clomid can have some side effects!!! We avoided the mall after that....

OP, I also do not talk to my in laws, like your DH, but that is because they are just horrible people (in my humble opinion).

You have every right to ask to sit by yourself, and I think if you are not granted it you should make a request on board and see what they can do. I am a VERY social guy but I know not every is, for their own reasons!

Enjoy your cruise!
