Requesting multiple entrees (etc)

Our server was almost disappointed if we didnt order new things and try new things.

One of my twins loves to try things. She wont finish "adult" entrees, but our server was more than happy to bring her an order of whatever so she could try it. She even ordered the duck one night, he spent more time cutting that she did eating it, but I was very proud of her for trying.

Order whatever you like in whatever quantities, and they will take care of you.

BTW - DCL portions are smaller than most portions on land. They are actually the size of serving that you should have ;) but they look small on the plate if you are used to eating out at other restaurants

I noticed this, too... Smaller portions, but actually closer to what normal people SHOULD be eating, vs the portions at some restaurants that could easily feed a family of 4!!

I won't say I was disappointed in our serving team, but our main server wasn't always picking up on the clues we tried to send him.. Several times we ordered off just the soup/salad portion and not an appetizer and they both came at the same time, and nothing during appetizer time. It's just a little thing..

And because it IS a cruise and the food IS all included, it's a GREAT time to try things you've never had before. That's what we just did. None of us had ever had duck before.. so we tried it.. and on a few nights I ordered a "side" of another entree. Like the first night they had Lobster Mac N Cheese on the menu and I knew I'd want some, and that my mom would love some, but it was her first cruise and she didn't know "the rules" (or lack there of) so she ordered the "healthy" salmon (ew!) and me another choice, and then the server brought the "side" of the mac n cheese and we were able to share it. Another night, there was elk on the menu (I think it was the Taste of Alaska night) and since I've never had elk before, and the sides for it weren't as appealing, I ordered a main entree and then a "side" of elk. For that, I was really glad I did, because it was REALLY GOOD!!

The table next to us had some really big, young guys who liked food... I think they routinely ordered double or triple portions of stuff.

Do what you want! Have fun!! Hakuna Matata!!

Love this thread. We are huge eaters and the entrees seem so small in the pics. On another thread people said that if you ordered two appetizers or two entrees, the servers would bring it out one at a time which to me seemed Like it would add lots of time to dinner. Glad to see that some have had it brought out together. Hopefully our server will as well. It also seems that ordering multiple apps or entrees is common, so no stink eye from the servers!

The way we ask for dinner to be sped up is getting our salad and and appetizer together.

Also recently on the Magic we were told DCL changed thier portions in an effort to control waste and then also people wont be over stuffed. Not all portions are small DH had a steak that was at least 16 oz.

I have ordered multiple entrees before and they always came out together

Thanks all. Really looking forward to our first cruise, a 4 night one in the Med. sounds like the food will be an experience in itself! :cheer2:

Loved that they offer the "Sweet Temptations" on the desert menu every night. A sampling of three of the deserts and each portion is 2-3 bites. Often I would have a bite of each and feel satisfied.

We just returned last weekend from our week on the Fantasy and I ordered the Sweet Tempations about 2-3 times throughout the week. I liked the idea of having a sampling of 3 desserts but I was sort of disappointed with quality of them. They seemed really dry to me. I know there was a couple of desserts from the Sweet Tempatations plate that other people at my table ordered (full sized version) so I took a bite of their dessert and it tasted so much better than the same dessert on my sample plate. Not sure why though...I think if I were to go again, I would choose a regular sized dessert instead of the sampler.
