Hi guys!

I'll be auditoning for fall 2011 :cool1:

Wanted to know how requesting days off goes over there. Especially for holidays. Would you have to tell them months ahead and be able to get thanksgiving off and the following day? or is there no way possible to ask for holidays off. & Just in general, how hard/easy is it?

thanks!

For holidays you would indeed need to request off months in advance but odds are as a CP you wouldn't get them. Holidays are the busiest time of the year and as such Disney needs a lot of time to work. Since CPs have to have full availability your most likely going to be working during holidays.

yeah I am willing to bet tons of money that there isn't a chance in hell you will request a holiday off and get it... the ONLY way you will be getting a holiday off while working as a CP is if you talk some idiot into working that day for you.... OR you get lucky and you are actually scheduled that day of.... which is about as likely as being bitten by a shark in Iowa....

when you sign up for fall or fall advantage CP you are basically giving them holiday workers so that they can let some full timers off on those days...

What about a regular non-holiday? I have concert tickets to a show at the House of Blues during my time in the Spring 2011 CP and I plan on requesting it off the moment I have access to the HUB.

What's the likelihood that I can get that night off?

...It depends on how many people they have in your location... and it depends on if you are requesting a weekday or a weekend...because weekends are always going to be harder to request off because the full time people work week days and we work weekends...

Getting holidays off depends heavily on where you work. I had every last holiday off when I was down there, just because my days off all happened to land on christmas, halloween, thanksgiving and new years. My coworkers hated me for it though, lol.

But I did have a few CPs at my restaurant request holidays off, usually they ended up trading shifts for it.
For the concert thing if you mention it in advanced you may be able to get away with an ER for that day.

Requesting a day off, regardless of whether it is a holiday or not, works the same way for CPs. Once you request it on the Hub, it shows up to the scheduling managers and they will be approved based on how many other people also asked for it off.

Now take into consideration that based on union rules, seniority plays a big role here. Even if you asked for that day off months in advance, if a more senior cast asks for it there is a chance you will be bumped off and you will not get the day off. And CPs have no seniority at all, so it is based on full timers. So, technically you will not get the holiday off, since the most senior cast members always take them. However, you may still be off when the schedule comes out (as a regular day off)... there is just no guarantees and is more about luck that anything else. When I did my CP I had Thanksgiving and New Year's Eve off, and I didn't even ask for either one.

I requested and got quite a few days off, but none were holidays. (I had a wedding back home for example)

My problem was getting it approved after requesting it and then being scheduled. When that happened, I just went to a manager with my approval and schedule and they adjusted it.
