I've been trying to book a studio at the Grand Californian for the last few days and keep having the same problem. You can book up to a week at 7 months from arrival date, but every day that I try the first day is always sold out, although the other six days are available. If I waitlist the dates will I atleast be able to get the 6 available dates or if a studio doesn't become available do I lose all days?

You are close to the D23 dates, August 9-11. People might be staying the days after.

Are you online right at 8:00am eastern?

There was a post on this recently, I tried to find it but couldn't. Those days after might not really be available.

Unfortunately, you must be able to first get the date that is exactly 7 months out from date of arrival before you can reserve any days afterward. Thus if you choose to waitlist you can reserve none of the days.

Your situation has happened to many others and not just with GCV. It is likely that what is happening is that there are only one or a couple rooms opening any given day and who gets them really depends on how fast your computer communicates with Disney's computer in comparison to many others who are hitting that reserve button at 8 a.m. eastern. Others think it is just a glitch in the system and a reservation already made the day before for that day, perhaps by someone whose start date is earlier and is walking a reservation, just does not show up until the system opens in the morning. Either way, you are being blocked out.

At 7 months it's not a glitch. Those rooms are either gone, or very few remain (like 1) and the first person online gets it. Luck of the draw (or server if you will). I experienced this at 11 months for a SV room, but I have been told by others that they have seen blacked out dates ahead of the 11 month window. Since you can book 11 months plus 6, at a busy time it's conceivable that people booking a day or more ahead of you CAN fill those rooms. At 7 months, those rooms have been available for 4 months already. VGC are already at a limited # compared to other resorts.

Thanks for the replies. I'm flexible on my dates and could go as late as the 23rd through 30th. I've been going online after work so I will try going on at 8:00 am.

There's your problem, with a resort as hard to get as VGC, you need to be online as soon as the window opens to get what you want.

Another problem is that the weekend of the 30th is the start of the Disneyland Half marathon weekend. On the WISH boards, there are reports from owners of VGC that they were on the waitlist at 9 months out and still no rooms yet. Just an FYI for you.

I booked my studio around that race weekend exactly at 11 months.

Within a few days, studios were gone, followed soon afterward by 1 bedrooms for the weekend nights.

As soon as we learned of the new 10K, I added another night to the start to get in a night early since we'll be racing a day earlier than planned as well.

That weekend is one of the hottest in VGC bookings.

I think it is time for that rumored DVC tower at DLH :)
