3 weeks to go and in panic mode:

In the past, as well as sending a grovelling letter:worship:, i have always phoned the resort direct and put in a request for a certain area. However i have just phoned and both CSR and HRH have said for me to contact the travel agent (Virgin). I have just sent an email to Virgin but has anyone got any other ideas on how to get certain areas......i'm not fussy and in CSR case i have asked for any of 3 different areas, non-smoking.

Sending a letter or fax used to be a great way to help ensure your room requests were granted. However, Disney recently reviewed its room assignment policy and stated that all faxed or written room requests would be immediately discared. The only way to express your preferences is by having them added directly to your reservation.

The room assignment policy works differently at different WDW resorts, but sometimes it is the check-in staff who allocate you a room. It is therefore very well worth mentioning your requests when checking-in. If you really are not happy with your allocated room you can ask the front desk to notify you when an alternative room becomes available and they will be happy to transfer you.

Personally, I would telephone Virgin and ensure they have clearly detailed your requests on your reservation. Then, mention them again when you check-in.

Good luck! :wizard:

Thanks for the reply - i hope they don't throw away my letters - I put a union jack on the top of them and was very proud of my handy work!! :thumbsup2

So does this mean you cant fax them to Resort anymore? We have done this every year. We are staying at AKL.

I was going to request the 50's year at pop but I shall probably wait until we get there now and see what we get. I bet we get the block furthest away from everything.

Well, the official word since May last year has been the following -

The official Disney policy on room preferences has always been that they need to be added directly to the reservation by DRC and contact with the resort was discouraged. The absolute easiest way to make your requests is through CRO and/or WDTC. They will gladly note any and all requests you make directly on your reservation that will be downloaded to the resort. That is what they are there for. These requests will actually stand a better chance of being assigned what you want than a fax will since the fax can get misplaced, misdirected or ignored.

So do you think we should just ring up virgin and ask them to add some extra requests onto our reservation (we already requested with virgin to have non-smoking rooms and connecting rooms, but we would also like to be near/overlooking the lobby - this is what we usually fax AKL about)? Can you do this as we booked a couple of weeks ago?

I have just made my grovelling phone call to Virgin and they added it onto my request form - just kept it short and sweet - non-smoking and any of 3 different areas at CSR.

At HRH i asked for similar room to last years............not much to ask for considering the amount of money they get off me every year!!! :teeth:
