Requesting Adjacent Sites with Separate Reservations?

So we have a trip to FW planned for next May, and we're overlapping with my in-laws for part of the stay. They have have a separate reservation. What's the best way to request adjoining (ideally) or at least close sites in that scenario? In case it matters, we both have premium sites, and they're going to be in one of the pet loops. We aren't bringing our dog, but have no objection to being in a pet loop.

Thanks in advance for the help!

If memory of the map serves me right, not all Premium loops are pet loops. You can both request a loop, but since you will not be coming in together it will be tougher. Here is a list of the loops.

Loop 100 - Preferred
Loop 200 - Preferred
Loop 300 - Preferred Pet
Loop 400 - Premium
Loop 500 - Premium Pet
Loop 600 - Premium
Loop 700 - Premium Pet
Loop 800 - Premium Pet
Loop 900 - Premium Pet
Loop 1000 - Premium
Loop 1100 - Premium
Loop 1200 - Premium Pet
Loop 1300 - Premium Pet
Loop 1400 - Premium
Loop 1500 - Partial
Loop 1600 - Preferred Pet
Loop 1700 - Preferred
Loop 1800 - Preferred Pet
Loop 1900 - Preferred
Loop 2000 - Partial

The best way to get near each other, would be to link your reservations. I am not sure if this is something you can do in MDE or if you have to call. Then request that you be near each other.

There was a place on the My Disney Experience to do this. If I recall, it was under the requests section of your reservation, but I can't seem to find it now. MDE won't even let me modify my reservation at this time to change preferences - oh well!

Call reservations with both reservation numbers and ask for them to be linked in a grand gathering. That is what they call the linked reservations. We go down with 3-5 families and link them. Most of the time we are right next to each other, but sometimes we are just close. But at least only being a few sites away is not bad.
