I know I have seen this in a thread several times, but I can not locate it, we are heading down on the 15th of Dec. and I am wanting to request a site, as my mother and aunt will be going down with us and want to have a site in a good location. I was down there a few weeks ago alone and walked a lot of the loops and picked oout a few. So, when should I fax our request over? Thanks for your help and sorry it has been asked before and I can not find it....

Richard

Now! You want to do it 10 days before you arrive.

The fax# for the Fort is:407-824-3508

Once upon a time someone told us 4-5 days prior to check in. Something about that's when the site assigner actually starts looking at such things.

In any case, that's when we've been doing it the past several years and we've had good luck. We usually give them a short list of the sites we want and we've gotten one of our top 3 every time.

Keep in mind that it's still just a request. When you check in (time of year, day...) has a huge bearing on if they can meet your request.

And you're generally better off giving them "why" you want a specific site/location vs a site number. In other words, "near the comfort station, bus stop, etc."

Good luck!

Thanks!! I thought so, just wasnt sure..... Look for us if you are there during the 15-20, we will be in a Colorado 5ver with several blowup decorations and a green Mickey head....

Thanks!!
Richard

Do you still your request by fax? Or just notify them upon check-in on line?

I would still send in a fax. There is nowhere to "write" anything on the online checkin, just a couple of predetermined check boxes.

We called FW on Dec. 3 (Friday) for our arrival on the 11th. We spoke to some one at the Fort and made our requests so now it's wait and see!! They seemed to be accommodating, but we were also upgrading our site. Good luck.

We do it every possible way we can find.

(ooh... that doesn't sound quite right )

We have it noted on our reservation when we first make it and then fax it 5 days prior.

If there had been a place to put it when I did online checkin I'd have done that too, but I didn't see anywhere to make a site request.

TMI!!! Richard, you might want to be sure to request to NOT be near BradyBz12!

For sure... LOL  Since I will have my DW and DD, plus one of her friends and my mom and her sister, might have to be in the other side of the Fort.... :goodvibes J/K.... Looking forward to having a great time!!! I will be heading out next Tuesday with a stop on the way near Valdosta, GA and then head on in on Wednesday, the females will all fly down and meet up with me....

Good Lord, MAN! You are going to be severely outnumbered. We will be arriving on the 17th, so if you need some male interaction feel free to stop by.

when faxing your request.. do you send any fax cover sheet or you use a DIS specific sheet?

then, just a plain piece of paper with your reservation, name, phone and request?

I faxed our request 5 days prior to our arrival this past October and they never received it. When we checked in at the Fort they did not know we were bringing a pet though it was on the fax and noted when I made the reservation. Also had us down for 3 sites instead of 2 :confused3 although we had each only paid for one site (us and my folks). So we did get a premium site because we had paid for it but not any of the loops that we requested, not even near to it. I wondered if it was because we needed two adjacent sites and it was Halloween? Has anyone else called after faxing to be sure they received it? We faxed it from both my work and DH's work. Next time I think I will fax earlier and also call!

NMK sorry to hear that, but glad all work out well.

Thanks for the information on the fax and reservation. Great thread.
