Hi

Sorry if this has been asked recently, but I'm a little out of touch with this. What is the best way to request a room/room location in advance? Will it make any difference if we send a fax or telephone before we arrive? We are due to arrive in resort quite late in the day and didn't want to end up with a location that no one else wanted!!

We have booked via a UK tour operator and the requests done via them in the past never seem to end up at the front desk of the resort. If you can telephone or fax, when is the best time to send the request through - we are due to arrive at CSR in 8 weeks.

Try calling the resort directly a few days before you arrive and make your request. Sometimes when I have arrived late at night, I didn't get the room I requested. However, we were able to move to another room the next day. No guarantees of course, but calling ahead has almost always worked for me. I did this when we stayed at CSR in November. We arrived at 2 AM and got our room request!

When you think you are calling the resort you are actually calling a call center. If you have your request in your reservation no need to fax or phone.

I did request a certain building for CBR when I made my reservations through the Disney website. That request didn't show up on the confirmation stuff they just sent me. We're not going until Oct. - should I wait until then to call and make the request again? Or call them sooner? :confused3

Your room isn't assigned until a few days before you check in so calling now isn't going to do you any much better than calling right before you leave.

If you have made your request, that's all you really need to do. Requests don't normally show up on the confirmation.

When we stayed at Pop Century, I requested a king bed room which I didn't think I would ever get. I made the request when I called, never got an email and when I checked in, the request was not only in the system but had been met with no problem.

Now, if you have a very detailed request, your perfect room is probably not going to be had. make your requests in the order of preference. For example, I just made my in-laws for them at Pop Century. Connecting was very important, 50s building would be fabulous, and first floor would be wonderful. And that's the order I made the requests. So if they get connecting 50s but on the second floor, that's cool.

The problem you may run into with calling is that they may not talk to you! Technically, your TA owns the reservation, until you actually checkin. I would double check with the TA and be sure to have any requests noted on your reservation.
